i am hoping to replace an old bramley with a young pot grown 2 yr old. There are many suppliers on my googled list, and all similar prices. Has anyone got a recommendation please?

Thanks for all your suggestions, I did some ringing around for prices and delivery charges.Pot grown as we need to make space in the orchard, and I was a bit worried that if I bought a bare rooted one we wouldn't get the area cleared in time. There are a couple of blown over trees which need to be sawn up, and cleared away. But what I decided to do after looking at delivery charges and so on was go to the lovely Dingle nursery near Welshpool( any excuse on a sunny day!) and picked up a lovely bare root half standard for £16. Best laid plans and all that haha.
So, first the eclipse, then tree planting- no excuse to leave it now.

I just had two apple trees arrive yesterday both barerooted. One needs to go to the allotment and the other needs work on clearing the area. In the meantime I just heeled them into a vegetable bed I had free.

I think heeled in trees can stay in for several months, but have only done it for a couple of weeks, so can't speak from experience.

You can also in the Autumn send (small this seasons growth) to be grafted , my brother done this with 3 apple trees he had once he knew he was moving house . As I know a couple of nurseries in the UK will graft them for you and a choice of rootstock
