    Hi All,

    I decided I would have a major spring clean in all the kitchen cupboards.

    And what did I find right at the back;

    a tin of peach slices dated July 2002 :hate-shocked: and it looks as new as the day it was bought.

    :lunapic 130165696578242 5: can anyone beat that , go on be honest its only between us lot :whistle:

                YES -definitely ! But, a sniff test will tell you all you need to know before dipping a finger in. The modern canning process is amazing and if there's no sign of rust/ corrosion...:thumbsup:

                  I'd have to at least open the tin to see if they were ok. I should think they would be fine

                    I'd send them back to the manufacturer, I'm sure they'd be interested to know whether their product has stood the test of time. They may send you back a case of them as a complimentary gift Spruce. :)

                          Unfortunately yes, Spruce. I lost my brother in May last year and we had had many a shopping expedition in Buxton, when he was alive, over the years, and I can remember he had a habit of buying anything exotic in tins and bottles from a "Pin to an Elephant" shop on the main street. When I helped his daughters sort out the House I started with the Kitchen. He was a great collector so his Kitchen was full of Copper Kettles, Pans, old pots, etc hanging from the walls and ceiling but his shelves were stuffed with packets, tins and bottles of food, spices, herbs, sauces from many obscure countries that I remembered him buying in the early 90's. But there was stuff there in cupboards and on shelves that I suspect were bought in the 80's, or earlier, that he'd bought as a curiosity, put away and forgotten about or deliberately kept it as a curiosity. My brother was a Character and always willing to try anything in Life and food and seeing all those curiosities was a real reminder.:love30::snork:

                            Still have this to celebrate the Queens Silver Jubilee - 25 years on the throne in 1977. Mr Namaste says he may open it to toast her Majesty on her Platinum Jubilee in 2022 - 70 years on the throne:
