Pruned my Heuchera Plum Pudding today.

My Heuchera Plum Pudding had grown quite messy over the winter. I looked it up and found out I could prune the outrr leaves and the beaten up ones. The new growth looks neat and tidy in the middle now.

 

They grow quickly don't they! I couldn't see the pot until I trimmed it.

 

In a pot. wow. Anyway, I have several all over in different spots in my gardens, truly don't prune them at all. And I have those different colors. love seeing the thin sprays of flowers they shoot up. Not everyone grows quickly, depends on the type.

 

Has to be in a pot/container as my garden is a patio garden. All my plants/ shrubs are in pots/containers.

 

Vine Weevil took out several of mine in the ground (Blackberry Jam, Midnight Bayou, Stoplight, Silver Scrolls and Marmalade) this winter as I forgot to put Weevil killer down.
Fortunately they were multi branched so after removing all the soil I divided and potted them as cuttings which are now rooting.

 

First time I've heard of that

 

This is what i used last autumn and last week. My Begonias were chewed up last summer as i forgot about the hanging basket

 

When would you say the best time to devide a clump is? I think I could get two nice plants out of this one.

 

if its the pot with the photo you could probably do more than two , cuttings taken now about two inches long 5.08cm will root easily

 

Can you split it in half like Hostas? It's just that I saw that on Gardeners World on Friday and was hoping I could do the same with my Herchura?

 

If me I would take out of the poot wash all the compost off and see what you have , pull or cut all the newish healthy looking stuff off and replant in fresh compost it will re root and throw the gnarly bits away.
