I'm sorry this is such a very basic question....I have not had a greenhouse before. The one I inherited on moving house was very densely packed with brambles (the people before me did not do anything at all in the garden for 7 years) I have done a first clear out of it but realise I will have to keep on top of new shoots as they appear. However, the glass obviously needs a serious clean......do I use suds and squeegee like on the house windows or is there another method for greenhouses? I'm planning to just put poys of peppers in it this year as the soil also needs serious attention. Thank you for all the help and ideas I always get on here.

Suds and a squeegee would be a good start. After an initial clean I would use Jeyes fluid in water or something like Citrox to disinfect the greenhouse.

I use a dilute thin bleach and detergent solution on the glass. The bleach kills off any green algae. I use a soft bristle broom and bucket to scrub it down.

I brush the floor, run a cloth over the windows, then using a garden pump sprayer filled with Jeyes Fluid to spray everywhere inside and out, then I pressure spray again with clean water..........doesn't take all that long.:dunno::coffee::snork:

Alas, no pressure sprayer....but abundance of Jeyes fluid as on offer at Aldi recently and seems to be keeping badgers away. I'll do all I can reach with sponge & cloth and try a broom on the roof - thank you for the advice.

I tend to use a broom to keep the chemicals at arms length, if you use a sponge/cloth then wear some rubber gloves - Jeyes can irritate your skin/eyes so take care :dbgrtmb:

This may sound obvious, but inside the ghouse I work from the bottom up starting at the far end and moving backwards towards the door. Leave the roof to the last so nothing is dripping on you. Outside you can splash it all over as our 'enry used to say.

Hi JJ, keep an eye out in Aldi or B&M's as they will start selling hand pump pressure sprayers soon and very cheaply, around £9 for a 5 litre size. All you have to do is fill the container, hand pump the sprayer to the line on the dial and then spray away.:dunno::hapydancsmil:

Ooooh that sounds good, thank you. There was big scrum at Aldi yesterday, many queueing up for lawnmowers....they only got 5 stock to sell. I just wanted fruit bushes and came away with 2 blueberry, 1 blackcurrant, 1 red gooseberry. I've never heard of B&M's.

It's a discount store that quite strong in the midlands and North......as you live in Sussex you probably don't have one around you. However, I'm sure you have a Aldi or Lidl near you, plus I think you might find a Pound Shop that will be selling them.:coffee::snork:

Thanks for the tip off @ARMANDII, I picked up a 5L sprayer for £7.99 from Aldi yesterday, very timely as my old sprayer has just packed up. It looks to be well made, just hope it lasts as long as my last one did (30+ years).

I use the same now for cleaning things down :dbgrtmb: I used to use Jeyes fluid ( love the smell ! ) but as the price is now the same as a fine scotch whisky , I give it a miss . Why is it so costly ?
