Sowed my tomato seeds last week and they are just at the 2 leaf stage now. I've gone with Panovy F1 this year. I sowed some Capricia F1's about a month ago but once they started to send out the 3rd/4th leafs they just shrivelled and died so no idea what happened to them.

I wanted to grow Cedrico F1 again this year as I won and got Best Veg In Show in a local show last year but they have now been discontinued :( :( :(

Ash....most members opt to start there tomato seeds around the middle of March when daylight hours are better and they are less likely to grow leggy and collapse.

Ahh right, I normally set mine off around the mid-end of Feb as I have built a small grow chamber in the spare room which stops them going leggy.

I sowed mine today. My Dad's ahead of me and has sown Gardeners Delight, Marmande and Sunbaby. I'll be getting one each of those.

I sowed Maskotka for my basket, Black Cherry, Sungold and Alicante with spares for my Dad.

                Still plenty of time
I still haven't sown mine, might do it tomorrow. If not, next weekend.

Despite already having my first tomato forming, I still haven't sown my main crop of toms which are for outdoor and polytunnel growing (I don't bother with anything in greenhouses during summer, too much work and I want to be doing other things).

But greenhouse heating goes on tomorrow, most plants from indoors and 3 growlights get moved there, and a whole load of new stuff, including all my tomatoes will be started in propagators indoors under my big 4th growlight.

Loofah, those of us dependent on the great British weather could well fall flat on our faces. You could be the tortoise speeding to victory at the show bench!

                      Oh I do like victory!

toms sown now. I'm doubling up and trying out some germinating in propagator as normal and others in unheated greenhouse just to see how they turn out.

Let us know how that goes Loofah, I often think that plants are much tougher if they are treated hard to begin with, although tomatoes might just be too tender to thrive.

Do you reckon that's a good thing, Scrungee? To me for such immature small plants making flowers must be a drain on their energy at such an early stage:doh::snork:

Mine will be getting sown this week I think - going to move the test babies out of the grow cupboard, and get the tomatoes started.
