Snow is all gone. A nice chilly sunny day, out to continue cleaning up, raking. etc. Putting fallen limbs on a pile, lighting a fire. My snow drops are not waiting for me, poking their heads out from among the leaves. Hope most of the areas are dry enough to not cause extra weight for my dragging.

Not exactly out doors but in the kitchen. Remember the Nepalese Impatiens? She let me have 6 cuttings from her a month ago which rooted in a china pot:
      P1050894.JPG
I potted them up and they are up on the S.West facing bathroom window sill with a Perspex cover on the tray. They can stay there for a couple of weeks to acclimatise and adjust to life away from Mum. Then they will go out into the mini GH and await their final destination - the front window boxes for Summer:
      P1050895.JPG
and bless her...Mum has let me have 3 more cuttings. She is looking a bit sorry for herself now and I will reluctantly consign her to the compost bin soon.
Does anyone else feel guilty about "letting old tired plants go?"
      Jenny

Weeding, feeding, topdressing, loitering about. Staring into the new pondlet which went in yesterday. No frogs yet but looks promising.

Discovered a new aspect to teenage gardening :ideaIPB:: plants with borderline rude names. The Midget and I potted the bloody cranesbills up and giggled a lot.

        Lovely day :hapydancsmil:

Not a lot of gardening progress, but satisfying, nonetheless.

A more up to date photo of compost, after about 20 barrow-loads moved up to the veg bed during the week... image.jpg
Still looks messy, but the using bay is emptier (and my arms are longer!)

After two hours of wrestling with the contents of the wood store, and removing 4" and 6" nails from various old floorboard joists, we have a pile of planks ready to build the next phase.

Bit of weeding and sorting out the storage box. Also got rid of some weak leek and beetroot seedlings that have been struggling since the great greenhouse collapse of 2015...

Fab day! After a successful shopping trip, I planted out some new primroses and divided a new centurea (amethyst in snow) into 4, the 3 babies are growing on in the greenhouse. OH mowed the lower lawn and planned where the replacement arch will go. He then dug one of the holes for one of the posts.
I went back out after lunch and potted on a few bits and bobs. Then moved my acer back in the greenhouse as don't want a frost to get the new leaves. Feel like the garden is starting to look ever so slightly colourful now. :hapydancsmil:Just need to make room in the greenhouse for young plants to go out ready for their new homes in the baskets and borders.

Fired up the lawnmower to see if it still works. 33 years old and still going strong . God bless briggs&stratton engines :hapfeet:

Fiddled in the greenhouse, a nice lot of pennisetum villosum are up

Then planted four of my five new tree paeonies. I'd like to put the fifth in front of a bay tree, as the pale flowers should stand out well against the dark leaves, but need to get rid of an elderly rosemary and santolina and the inevitable brambles, so decided to do something a little easier.
Planted a small Acer griseum where I'll see the winter bark from the kitchen. Then tried planting a Chaemonanthus praecox where I'll pass it in the winter when taking stuff from kitchen to compost heap, only to discover the spot I'd chosen was a rubble cemetery. So a tiring hour and large pile of rubble later the Chimonanthus was in! Very satisfying he he

I spent a couple of hours potting on seedlings and then spent time shuffling pots and trays around indoors trying to make space. I really need to get some plants into the greenhouse but it's still to cold overnight.

:hapydancsmil:I've had such a good day I feel fantastic :hapydancsmil: this morning was taken up with the food shopping, sainsburys this week :frown:,but I called into B&Q to get some fence paint & that had a bit extra free in it!, I bought some stocks from there. Hubby then took me to Aldi where I bought another red gooseberry & a black current £2.99 each :dbgrtmb:, 6 strawberry plants for £2.99 from there we came home, hubby sprayed the fence, I planted more garlic, the gooseberry, black current, 2 roses, a few other plants, potted on some sweet peas into a pot outside, cleaned out the hens, weeded & fenced off a flowerbed just to keep the girls off, cut the grass, then came indoors & did all my housework....I must be mad!! :heehee:.
I hope everyone's had a productive day, I love days when you seem to have enough energy to move a mountain! I bet I don't feel so enthusiastic tomorrow!!! :lunapic 130165696578242 5:
