Grows to about 60cm, flowers from July until the first frost and then dies. Seeds are like small peas, dark brown, hard, wrinkled. May have come from a packet of wild flower seeds some years ago? Several plants have grown every year for several years but last year there was only one. I have kept the seeds but would like to know what it is so that I can get some more. P1010035.JPG

Do the flowers open in the late afternoon ?, if so it's Mirabilis Jalapa, the four o clock plant, grows from tubers. Easily grown from seed too.

Thanks for this - it looks close but the flowers open during the day and, as far as I am aware, they don't smell. But maybe a relation?

I would agree it is called Mirabilis jalapa commonly called the Four O'Clock Plant because it supposedly opens at four o'clock in the afternoon. However, it grows wild here and is blooming most of the day and closes at night.
