It looks to me that those woody stems next to that plant are the flower stems from last year? I am about as far away from an expert as you could get, but it looks as though its something from a bulb (lily-ish? :dunno:)

The stem is a fuchsia (Blue Fairy I think), no bulbs in that pot though

Definitely the same plant as the existing stems (you can check by pulling one new stem off)

I'd keep that, I'm pretty sure it's a lily :blue thumb:

It isn't attached to the stem that's there, just growing around it. Last year I had a lot of plants from seeds in there so could be anything lol I must remember what I put in from one year to the next :heehee:

I don't suppose you had anything like a Gaillardia in there? Mine are just starting to show and they look a little similar...

That is very possibly what they are! There is some similarity in the leaves. I definitely wouldn't pull them up yet anyway, if they are Calendulas then they will grow fast and it won't be long before you know for definite!

Deffo not a Lily - the growth habit is wrong. It is herbaceous.
It looks rather like a weed that I suffer from here.
But I would also toss Veronica into the hat as well. The foliage on mine looks a little darker but the growth habit looks right.

I am sorry I don't know the name of this plant but I did originally buy it from a garden centre it gets cerise pink flowers well to me they are I am colour blind. Those sticks will just pull out. The root is like a hard deep tuber / rhizome , bit like a dandelion one only white, It is very invasive, the seeds spread everywhere, even on top of my mums wall it needs hardly any soil to grow. It is stunning when in flower I think mine was about 18 inches high when it flowered and if you cut the flowers it carries on until the frost. The older it gets the tougher the roots so just bear in mind if you are keeping. My original one is about 5 years old I tried to dig it up it went down a long way and was about two inches wide it broke before I could get it out so now I spray weed killer on the new seedlings because it just takes over and if you leave a tiny bit of tuber thing it grows back.
Despite that in the right place I quite like it. I hope you find the name because I would like to know it too.

Good luck with your gardening, it will soon be taking off and we can enjoy the wonderful colours our garden shows us.
