Spent the last hour of daylight with my automatic-weed-machines (aka The Girls :chicken: ). It was the best hour of the day: listening to the birds, watching the sun setting, listening to the girls telling the others they had found a tasty tid-bit. Noticed signs that the Virginia stock seeds I've been sprinkling around are now showing signs of life ( ) so I'm a happy camper with those. Then, just as the chill of dusk began to creep inside my jacket, Honey the old English game bantam called the other girls home with her time-for-bed chant. So all auto-weed-machines safely away and tucked up for the night.

Another rubbish day at work, it just gets worse this week!
Managed to get out after work and me and the other half started making the replacement arch. Also did some watering/feeding/spraying of rose clear and sowed a few more sweet peas in a pot. Will do my next lot straight into the ground I think.

I dug out the few weeds in my rose bed today, scattered some chicken manure pellets and then emptied the contents of my dalek composter onto it. The roses need spraying but that will have to wait a couple of days as we have some lousy weather on the way tonight.

Well, I kept to my plans of yesterday and today swept out the Green House, brushed down the panes of glass and then sprayed the inside and out with a diluted mixture of Jeyes Fluid. It actually took 15 litres to spray the glass inside and out plus the inside floor. I'll leave it overnight to do it's work and dry out, then tomorrow I'll get the garden hose out and wash the whole Green House down and use a long handled window squeegee to finish the job.:coffee::snork:

I did indeed get the floodlights out! As I've dedicated so much time at the allotment recently our gardens been neglected which is normally my pride and joy so I'm on a mission to get it looking snazzy again.

My wife took this without me knowing :)

hardcore and silly! My wifes out tonight and the weather looks as though it will be OK. I will therefore be setting up the flood lights again and planting some perennial plugs that have hardened off! Maybe some of my Aldi bulbs too! :)

The most i have done today is moved the compost the milkman delivered from the front drive to the back garden and watered the plants int the greenhouse

                  Thats it for today

Did the "New Plant/Pots Shuffle" - wiggle to the left, jiggle to the right, hustle to the back, shuffle to the front - well, I need to make sure they are in just the right spot in their forever setting don't I?

I brushed out the Green House again after it had dried out from yesterdays spraying with Jeyes Fluid and then hosed it down, inside and out, with the garden hose turned on to the Jet mode.......cleaned off the opaque film that Jeyes Fluid always leaves on glass, so it's now sparkling.
The only mishap was that while I was inside the Green House I had partially opened the door and had accidentally taken it off the runners so while hosing the inside the door fell off:hate-shocked::gaah: Luckily for me, the door fell on to the side border and not backwards onto the concreted path:hapydancsmil: The 3 panes of safety glass had fallen out with the retaining springs flying off in all directions but hadn't broken:phew: So into the Garage I went and found some more retaining springs and then put the door back together again:heehee: After that I sorted out the seed trays where the seedlings had come through..............very good success so far and put them into warm positions with good light. All my sown Toms have come through and are looking good so far.:coffee::snork:

I have just done the first grass cut of the year :)

Pleased with my basic "warehouse" lawnmower. She's getting on a bit now, but a top up of oil, a full tank of fresh petrol, and a wiggle of the spark-plug contact to clear the cobwebs - and she roars into action!

My favourite kind of garden "job", i.e. nothing specific.....just wandering around and seeing what needs doing/tweeking - little bits here and there and enjoying the peace and sunshine.

I converted my lawn to a lawn meadow (a few years ago). This week I got rid of the hand push (rotary) lawnmower (along with other bulk refuse...collected fee with paid up council tax). Actually I was pleased that someone rang my bell and, on seeing the mower out front (for collection) asked if they could have it. It would never occur to me to sell it since it is far from being in good condition although the blades work adequately.

I now handscythe my small lawn meadow once a year....after the seeds have fallen.
