Yes, to me it is cheap. But its the area, not that the area is cheap. Chester County is beautiful. But if you take the same situation and stick it in California, your taking 4x that amount. Land is huge in this area, lots of open spaces, and still big farm lands. The area is not near a social climbing metropolitan area, such as not even a movie theater. There are ample stores to shop for what you need. Lots of Amish around. Gods country so to speak. The fragrance of honeysuckle blooming, the passing of flocks of birds, and the roaming of deer and other Gods creatures. It would be a life style one would want. I am thinking, it was a property that was inherited by children of passing parents and they want to unload it, to not deal with it at all. Just move on.

How sad, but then sometimes, even if the children love the area, how do they divide a home between them... Sometimes selling is the easiest way out.

Just guessing Sian in Belgium. Perhaps the huge stone house needs a ton of work to live it, that makes the price cheaper. Just guessing.

This is exactly what happens here. We live in the country and there are so many properties with acres of land around them ... mainly orange orchards and olive groves here. But the children don't want to know. They have been educated and work in the cities and want to live in the cities, not in the country working the land as their parents did. The properties become ruins and the land unkempt and it goes for a song ... if you want to take it on. So very, very sad.
