Show us your Camellias 2015

now your Debbie looks quite a salmon pink. I thought it was more of a true pink than that,

The one in your first pic @merleworld is stunning. I love it.

 

It is Jenny, just a trick of the light with the sun shining on it.

 

Something isn't right! I've repotted this with ericacious compost & only ever watered it with rain water, I've had it a year, last year it had the most fantastic pink blooms on it, but this year there's no blooms, why?

Here's another photo, are these buds coming or new leaves?

 

Can you show a picture from the side please? Might be a bad angle but that pot looks small for the size of plant.

I'm really disappointed with it as I said last year it was so pretty

I note that it has a taste for this Beckie:
This plant needs an acidic soil we recommend adding a bag of ericaceous soil to the planting hole(quote).

 

Thanks Jenny, I've repotted it in ericacious soil & I've been watering it with rain water, it doesn't seem to be improving perhaps I need to be more patient! I have some camellia plant feed do you think that might give it a nudge in the flowering department?

 

The leaves are curling so it doesn't look entirely happy. If it were mine I'd give it a larger pot with ericaceous compost and some slow release ericaceous feed.

Make sure the top of the root ball is level with the soil, no deeper. Camellias are shallow rooted so need a pot that gives some space for the roots to spread out at the top.

Camellias flower better in my experience when they get the sun a few hours a day, but they should ideally be partially shaded.
