As for 'Hunters' I can recommend their 'Garden clogs' .These are really comfortable too, just enough 'shoe' to keep them on your feet and really practical for quickly slipping on:dbgrtmb:

Excuse the muck:biggrin: but they take some hammer too.I do occasionally wear flip flops in the summer:snork:

If anyone's interested in the history of Hunters (and why they're now rubbish), here's a link: https://secretscotland.wordpress.com/2008/05/04/hunter-wellies-wade-off-into-the-sunset/
If Hunters were bought prior to 2008, then they should still be going strong! (Like my Dad's 50 year old pair). Recent purchases though, are nothing more than a flimsy fashion accessory.
I might have to save up for a pair of those Ariat , Loli! Meanwhile, I'm trying to get my hands on a pair of Firefighters (literally - the industrial strength ones worn by firefighters!). I'll let you know if they last any longer than the disappointing Hunters.

What a timely thread, I was going to buy a pair of Hunters, my daughter asked a professional dog walker friend, that`s where I wear mine mostly, 5/6/7 walks a day, and she said not to get Hunters as gone rubbish, MUCK boots are the best for wear now, thats the brand not the type.

OK, for anyone on the look out for durable wellies, I've just ordered from the sale section of this website.

              http://www.cover-up.co.uk/welling/welling.htm

(Yes, it has taken a lot of research to find these, but I am reluctant to spend a huge amount of money on more boots that will fall apart).

These are industrial strength, durable wellies, that I really hope will last longer than a couple of years! I've ordered the 'Firefighter 4000s.' Apparently, these are made in the UK by the old method, and no longer manufactured. The 'Century 4000' replaced those when they stopped being manufactured, before Century also went out of business. Supposedly, they are just as good (I've ordered the Century ones for my other half, before his Hunters also disintegrate).

They probably weigh a tonne, but they do look like they ought to survive a bit longer. I'll let you know how they hold up. There aren't many left, and no longer produced, so if anyone is after super-strength wellies, thought I'd provide this link before they're all gone.

I'm also going to have to get some light-weight walking boots, as these are probably too heavy for long walks, but my local dog-walking area is known as 'The Washlands' for a reason, so decent wellies are essential.

My green hunters are three years old & as yet haven't caused me any troubles, ( the green ones are supposed to be better quality than the fancy coloured ones which were very trendy a few years back!) however everyone keeps telling me they won't last much longer, I've already been researching what I will buy next & I've come to the conclusion muck boots or Aigle wellies, I've know a few horsey girls they swear by both makes, the others they swear by are la Chameau over £200 per pair......I'm sorry but I feel that unless you work outdoors with animals all year that would be a little excessive to spend that much on a pair of wellies!

I've had mine since I was 14, and still got plenty of wear in them - I think they are Dunlops. Obviously they don't make them like they used to.

                    I love that!!

I have my first pair of court shoes from when i was 14 because my mum said i could have a nice pair of shoes once my feet stopped growing (we were only ever allowed shoes that cost a maximum of £10 while our feet were growing). They are Carvella they are the comfiest high heels ever.

You are the first person I have ever heard to say they still have shoes from when they are 14 like me

Found myself pausing "Countryfile" on my hands and knees, trying to make out the brands that they were wearing, figured if farmers wear them they will be good.
