It is still quiet chilly out here, but will bundle up and rake out something. Have many areas to deal with. And pick up lots of limbs and sticks. Maybe if the wind is low start burning them also.

Thanks to the high winds I've been forced into buying a sturdier alternative to my plastic greenhouse which is looking very close to total collapse. Can't afford a proper greenhouse so ended up with a cold frame which was on offer for £40.

        IMAG0296.jpg

Must have been fated as it fits my veggie seedlings perfectly with no space spared.

        IMAG0303.jpg

It also gave me a chance to have a look at how things are doing and get rid of the weaker ones to save space. The wind had dried everything right out too so got to give everything a good soak.

Also turns out I have a tonne of sprouts, waaay more than I need or would ever eat so will have to look at passing them on.

        Currently have:

        Sprouts
        tomatoes
        kale
lettuce (though looking weak so may not last)
        Beetroot
        weak leek and onion
        hot pepper
        garlic

Plus others that are indoors in propagators at the min. But hopefully these seedlings will come in a bit now they're in a more stable environment!

All I did was fill up the bird feeders. The wind nearly blew me away!

I have a standing bird feeder at my allotment. It regularly falls in the slightest breeze because it's light. I imagine it's probably the other side of the m6 by now...

I bought a pedestal to put my one into - holds like a dream now. Birds are quite so impressed though ... I think they preferred it when the seed flew all over the place :heehee:

Did a bit of pricking out in the kitchen this morning seeing as the rain was relentless. The sun came out later this afternoon but was still chilly in the wind so I dragged my vest on, grabbed my bag of bulbs and got on with it. I'd just finished and the heavens opened so I came inside looking like a drowned rat. The cup of tea waiting for me was nice though!

Last year my iron bird feeder got landed on by a hug limb during a wicked storm, bent it all. Managed to straighten it enough that the birds are not complaining. Moved it to another area close to dense shrubs, stacked it well with some fencing green iron posts and hung the feeders. The birds enjoyed seeds and suet all winter.
As far as today, finally cleaned out my main garden. Lots of little fresh green bulbs appearing. To early for the purple appearance of the virginia blue bells. Trimmed down a few hydranges from last years dead blooms. All looks good.

After the little un had gone to bed and everything calmed down I went into the GH and potted on some coleus, gazania and geranium plug plants.
I love the lighter nights
