    Yay! The first Thysanotus seed is germinating :hapydancsmil:

    Not sure if it has anything to do with my smoke treatment or that the seed was fresher this time but I'm really happy nonetheless!

        Good to know that I'm not the only insomniac on here tonight!

        Much the same as on here - I've made a few contacts.

          I've just seen that (I must check the recent activity more often) - thanks.
          Take a look through and if there is anything that catches your eye ask as I may have seed for it.

            The first of this years greenhouse sowings are germinating.
            Amaranthus cruentus x powellii and Amaranthus caudatus viridis. Both took about ten days despite the cool nights.

              Here are a couple of last years sowings.
              Musschia wollastonii. This is the one that I potted on whilst the others were kept in check in smaller pots to make overwintering less of a hassle.

              Vestia foetida was sown about a year ago. This shrub now stands 1.2 metres tall and is about to flower..............

                  Neither had I :heehee: That's half the fun!

                  Anyway, Anigozanthos manglessii is germinating after just over a week. Got this species cracked now - alternating plenty of heat and no heat every day (ie, I light the woodburner at night) seems to be the key.

                      Here's a photo update of some of the seedlings;

                      Abutilon x hybridum. The large one is about 12 weeks old and the one on the right is 6 weeks. They seem to do nothing for ages after germination and then suddenly get a romp on. Both should flower this year...............
                      [IMG]

                      Erythrina crista-galli at about 6 weeks or so...............
                      [IMG]

                      Lepechnia bella. Like most of its Salvia cousins not the best for growing under lights but is growing rapidly as the days lengthen.............
                      [IMG]

                      Puya berteroniana from @Ian Taylor . Four in here and one that I've already potted on equals 100% germination :blue thumb: Very slow growing..............
                      [IMG]

                      Anigozanthos flavidus despite being small are clearly showing their fan growth habit..............
                      [IMG]

                      Cassia bicapsularis at ten weeks.................
                      [IMG]

                      Leucaena leucocephala is about two months old.....................
                      [IMG]

                      Bauhinia variegata at about 10 or 12 weeks.....................
                      [IMG]

                      Sesbania punicea...............
                      [IMG]

                      The Sesbania formosa have both had these slightly anaemic second leaves. About 8 weeks old.............
                      [IMG]

                      One of the Eucomis bicolor pots. The foliage is a little leggy but as it is a bulb plant I'm not too bothered...............
                      [IMG]

                      Finally, Bomarea edulis. This one is about ten weeks old and I'm pleased to see a second shoot as this plant grows a cluster of tubers similar to Dahlias...............

                        A few more photos;
                        A Nepalese Impatiens from the seed that @Jenny namaste sent me..............
                        [IMG]

                        Further proof that Salvia do not do well under light. This is S.algeriensis which is now in the greenhouse............
                        [IMG]

                        Some of my seed germination is now being done in the greenhouse...............
                        [IMG]

                        The Amaranthus germinated very quickly in the greenhouse...............
                        [IMG]

                        Finally a couple of self seeders outdoors;
                        Impatiens balfourii (they will need thinning out!)...............
                        [IMG]

                        And Nicotiana glauca..................

                          that looks a bonny lad Keith. I have a few that have just germinated and am surrounded by rooted cuttings too,
                          must stop this obsession,
