so the Procyon I am growing are classed as Decorative , quote "Decorative dahlias have fully double blooms showing no disc. The ray florets are either involute, scarcely involute, not involute, or revolute at apex and either come to a point, abruptly come to a point or indented." !!!!!!Just what I thought

'Match' doesn't really look like that. Unless I've got it completely wrong, this is 'Match'....



It's not completely open, and it's not a great angle.

If anything like daylilys depending on soil type it can effect the colour as I found out when Simbad was on here , we would have the same named plant from the same supplier and the colour was difrent but shape and form the same , anyway yours looks great

I'm new to them too! I just fell in love with them in visited gardens last year. I bought a small flowering one from Columbia Road flower market in Sept last year but I think I've killed it, so I don't think that really counts This year I have about 30 or so on order as small plants from the National Dahlia Collection and Halls of Heddon. I'm not sure I can fit them all in, I ordered a few more just in case the war on slugs doesn't go to plan! :D

 

My Kenora Sunset turned up today, 5 plants. Looking strong and healthy, around 6" tall, already with side-shoots

i never knew that was there, only 15 mins away from me!! i shall take a visit next week, and i suspect i wont come back empty handed either..........

 

For info Costco do some lovely Dahlias and much cheaper than I've seen anywhere else. The tubers are large too, much bigger than those I've bought elsewhere. I think I counted 25 blooms from one tuber which lasted for a couple of months. Definitely worth a trip there next year

I now have 8 pots of dahlias so I will be joining this thread , I was gifted them otherwise they would of been thrown away , I have planted in huge pots I have no border space left , most are cactus hopefully the red one I like has survived the winter but lots of others colours as well one tuber was huge easily 15 inches across and 10 inches deep
