Pete - that Grand Marnier is fantastic. Whilst I have had quite a few flowers, for some reason this year there was very little foliage growth. However I haven't fed them that much.

After seeing this fabulous thread I ordered some Brugmansia Suaveolens 'pink' seeds:rolleyespink: Years ago I did grow Datura but lost it and for some unknown reason I never grew them again:scratch:

When would you advise the best time for sowing? the info with the seeds says Feb/March but I've read they can be sown any time of the year.I'm chomping at the bit to get started but need to be stopped from doing anything stupid:rolleyespink:

      Many thanks:blue thumb:

      Marvellous plants and pictures everyone:love30::dbgrtmb:

I would go with February/March. You don't want a leggy Brug do you?

Must admit I've only ever grown Sanguinea from seed, not wanting to put you off Lolli, but you may well not get flowers next year.
Good to try seed though, personally I'd not sow until at least the days are getting longer, so if you have a warm window sill I'd go for february.
If you want some cuttings of Grand Marnier just whistle, I cut it hard back a week ago, so most went in the compost.

Sow February instead of March then? I've seen too many spindly seed grown Brugs on various forums. Not to mention the potential of RSM which was rampant outdoors here this summer.
Pete may have other thoughts though.............

I'm not into light boxes, never had one, but I'm guessing if you used one now for germination you would need to have it in operation round till at least march next year or a bit longer.

@pete - I have a cupboard with the grow lights suspended down on adjustable chains and the heating pipes running through it. My conclusions were that it was good for germinating seeds, good for bulbous and some tuberous plants, but less good on herbaceous type plants. Based on a 12 hour cycle.

I know some people have great success with grow lights, but its something I'm not likely to get involved in.
I kind of prefer to grow things in season, a propagator to bring seeds on, but then only when the heat and light is sustainable.

I'm a bit old fashioned

                    Go for it then.
I can remember years ago planting all kinds of tropical seed at totally the wrong time of the year, and I never had lighting.
Sometimes you win sometimes you lose, but dont put all your eggs in one basket, save a few till spring.

Bad news on mine, looks like all 3 big ones in pots are doomed, the rot is spreading down the stem.
Good news is though I took 6 cuttings in the autumn and there all growing nicely

You can't really tell from the picture but the flower is bigger than the plant...
