Sweeping glass up :gaah:from the GH and picking fence panels up :gaah:Again
Went to the GH this morning and 3 panes had smashed but had to go to work, when I had home 2 more had smashed (blown through)
Newly planted palms and garden in general have taken a battering. :sick0026:
Most of the daffs and tulips are horizontal.
But on a brighter note after I fixed the GH sown some ricinus, datura, Swiss chard and little mowgleys sun flowers.

I've just finished taking down the battered fly away greenhouse and moving the cold frame to where the greenhouse was. I've even managed to get it so the back wall is against the wall of the house so hopefully that will help it keep the heat in.

Sorted out the seedlings and got rid of some of the no hoppers and managed to fit everything in it so nothing else will blow away!

Wondering whether to thin out my pak choi and chard which are a good 2 inches high in the propagator now. don't have any more room in the coldframe though so would need to evict something. Planning on getting the sprouts planted out in the allotment in the next couple of weeks once their bed is ready so that'll free up some room. :)

I had some time after work so reinstated a small freestanding trellis which had blown down, potted on a few things in the greenhouse then went inside and got some Spanish flag pricked out so I can start some new seeds on the propagator.
Finally I went through all my seeds and selected some to sow indoor next and a few packets to sow direct once it warms up a bit.

Glass was £4.50 for a 2x2 pane so not too bad

@Dips you can take advantage of the way the fence posts are. :blue thumb: Just run wires around the bits sticking out and take them horizontally.

Then you can drop wires or string from them and can grow things such as sweet peas up them.:)

The bed in front of that fence has my buddleia, wisteria and primroses to go back into

Mrs Shiney went into the greenhouse to work and came out a bit sharpish as the glass panels in the roof started moving!

I picked up the bird feeders (again), didn't bother to pick up the blowaway as the paving slab I had put inside hadn't stopped going over again.

The 6" diameter piece of wood that has been holding up the 25ft long horizontal branch of the prostrate juniper broke and the branch has flopped onto the lawn. As luck would have it, the tree surgeons are coming on Friday to reduce our giant willow by at least half. They should be able to cut a forked piece to be used as a prop. It'll take two of them to lift the juniper branch and the other to fit the prop underneath the juniper.

If they are given nourishment, water and some TLC, they will happily get to the brushwork at the top of your fencing.
                      It's coming on a treat isn't it...:dbgrtmb:

Desperate for space inside I've spent a couple of hours rigging up a makeshift cloche in the greenhouse so I can move some young plants/seedlings out. It's amazing what you can put together with some canes, bubble wrap and tape but I haven't had a lot of choice, there's not one on the island to be bought!

Thank you Jenny, I have planted that many I am considering making a long planter and double tiering them, I will have to see how many sprout up, they have had 19 days now and still no signs, I think I have some bulbs appearing in the border though:smile: but might be weeds lol.

been too cold to activate germination outdoors yet. A bit of sun to warm up the soil is what they are waiting for,
