I have a lot of Neil Diamond records :blue thumb:. A very good singer who is one of the world's top selling record artists.

Funnily enough he didn't hit the charts over here all that often. His first hits were in the early 1970's with Sweet Caroline, Crackling Rosie, I Am I Said and Song Sung Blue - at least five years after charting in the U.S. Then only sporadic chart hits afterwards.

This has been playing on my local radio for the past few weeks now: classic!

He touches my soul in a fair number of songs ...

                ...

Not to forget, he beat Paul Simon in incorporating African music into contemporary pop ...

                ...

And this ... heard the music; read the book; heard the music, felt the soul!
This moves me in ways nothing else does

I like anything with a bit of rhythm in it, some more some less. That soca is well diluted, like a lot of "ethnic" songs today...but still very nice parts in the tune. In terms of exotic music my favourites have to be: merengue, cumbia and, changing continent: soukous.

I prefer bashment and dancehall to soca myself

i seem to be in a lets listen to songs with a dance instruction in them mood

                    so spanning genres and decades

bit of sam cooke twisting the night away

Bit of elephant man - willie bounce was always standard on a night out

and than my all time favourite because it includes snapping and walking it out and was my tune in the club and was a big song when i was at uni.

I'm listening to 'Rumer' at the moment - she has a new album 'Into Colour'. She's an English singer/songwriter based in the USA. Good to see that she has used the correct spelling of 'Colour' in her album title :snork:. Reminds me very much of Karen Carpenter - excellent for chillaxing .

There have been a series of connections in my mind that have brought me to digging out this song.

It's a live performance and about his last day with his son, Conor, at the circus before his son passed away.
