I know that one! The Salvias are getting out of control! Then there's @Spruce with his Day Lily obsession!

            it started with one

Gnarly Gnome as far as I know I am the second person in the UK to grow it , as I got it from the lady who has the original plant
I will be starting a dayliy thread for 2015 so keep your eyes peeled or have a nose at my photos on here , they only last a day but amazing the new varieties from America are amazing, which I have a lot off mostly Spiders and Unusual forms

Hmmm yes, I've seen lots of the new American ones online and always been fascinated, particularly by the spiders. I have a feeling that they may grow well in my current garden, and started a conversation with someone in order to find out which ones are scented (that's how I curb my rose obsession, along with pre 1900 stipulation lol) but life happened and I haven't got any yet.....

I had a bit of a surprise today. Salvia algeriensis is starting to produce flower buds. When I checked on Robins Salvias site this is not unusual but I'm still happy.

Earlier in the thread I mentioned the dunking method of splitting overcrowded seedlings. Here are a few photos of the process. The seedlings are Amaranthus cruentus x powellii..............

If you use a sandy open mix it washes away as you dunk it up and down (pic above) in the water and exposes the roots (below)...........

                        The finished article..................

The method doesn't work for everything. Some species dislike their roots being disturbed and keel over but with a bit of experimentation you soon learn which ones.
