Not as good a deal per litre but.......Makro 100l bowers mpc &6.99 plus vat bogoff.

15% off at Homebase this weekend too.

Just done the maths and Makro is cheaper but as you need a card and the stores are few and far between the B&Q deal is better.

I've been using Jack's Magic for the first time this year, whilst I agree its a good light mix for starting off seeds I'm now becoming wary about using it for potting on. I've discovered over this last week that if the mpc isn't kept moist it sets like concrete around the young plants above and below the surface. Today I've been gently digging around some seedlings to loosen it off. I'll be re-thinking for next year.

The Wickes special offer of 4 x 70 litres for £15 (quite good quality) came up as £14.36 when put through the till!!!  Just over 5p per litre.

A good choice for me as I pass Wickes when going shopping and although B&Q is also quite close I can't handle 125 litres any more.:old:

I've used Jacks Magic for seed sowing but I still prefer Verve sowing compost so I'm sticking with that in future. I haven't had any problems with JM for pricking out but it's early days. If it sets like concrete for me too @Sheal I'll be going back to Wickes as I've had no problems with their MPC.

Snap! Same at my Wickes that I pass on the way to work, I'm getting 8 at a time (it's all I can fit into my little car) and gradually building up my stockpile at home :)

For anybody with a vehicle big enough to get 16 bags in, it's worth subcribing to notifivations of Wickes special offers as they regularly have £10/20% off fifty printable vouchers (or show barcode from your phone), such as this http://www.wickes.co.uk/voucher-soc...68&utm_content=deeplink&utm_campaign=deeplink One could always buy 16, take 8 home leaving OH to guard a trolley containing the other 8 bags until your return.

She'd have to wait a long time! I only go into town two or three times a week :heehee:. The round trip costs £3 in petrol! So not much saving to make a separate journey :dunno:

Offer to split the £7 net saving 50:50 with her?

Alternatively, if spending £28.72 on Wickes MPC, buy it when there's £10 off £50, then after getting enough MPC to fill the car, buy some additional less bulky stuff you need for >£21.27 to get £10 / 47% off of it.

                    Thanks @shiney :blue thumb:

I can get 15% off Wickes at the moment (usually it's 10%, same as B&Q) so did a search to see if the Wickes stuff was any good now (after the kerfuffle a couple of years ago), so glad to see you've road tested it for us ;)

75 litre is as big as I go these days. I suppose in a few years I'll be looking at them 10 litre bags sold in supermarkets
