We have the feeling everything is late this year: the potatoes aren't sprouting yet, the seeds haven't come up, all sorts of veg which would be bolting now isn't - what's your experience? We're down in Somerset.

Not much moving outside the greenhouse, onion family is on the move, but the rhubarbs still only budding.

Fingers crossed a cold spring will be followed by a hot long summer ? All depends on the jet stream as usual

Things are pretty much on time here. Purple sprouting broccoli being picked at the moment. Rhubarb crumble the other week.
Snowdrops were up and out early (end of Jan) then everything slowed down. Now getting back into it's stride.

We've been stuffing ourselves with purple sprouting and I'm thoroughly sick of it! Luckily the leeks aren't bolting yet, and I have a few lonely endive plants one of which gave me a lovely 'andijviestamppot' today.

I'd say a bit on the late side around here, but I'd rather have that than everything on the move and then it gets whacked by a late frost.

Things here are about the same as last year, but we're nomaly 2 weeks behind everyone else because of the way the wind blow around the valleys, so if everyone else is late that make me early :)

OK, a good indicator I always think is Forsythia, its only just coming into full flower here at the moment, have known it in Feb some year ago.

Sorry, it's all my fault- my sister is a meteorologist so I have "friends in high places". We are going for holidays tomorrow so I had to ensure that the temperatures stay around 10 celsius with no hot sunshine, to keep my blowaway greenhouse perfect whilst we are hiking in warm forests. We'll be back on the 17th, so that's when the Spring will start.

                          Apologies.
