    I'm back !!!!

Well .... Take a guess at what I have gone and done !! :frown:

I've taken on the plot next to mine because I'm greedy :snork:

The new plot is literally going to be cultivated within the next week or so, and I am going to grow Sweetcorn (Painted Hill & Brown Tones varieties) at either end of the plot to cut down cross pollination, quite a few different spud varieties (already have the seed pots), A few nice Pumpkin plants (after last year, I have learnt that they take a LOT of room), and some Courgettes. My original plot will have another couple of polytunnels put on, and will be growing plenty of chillis etc and some Tomatillos (to make some nice salsa's with). The outside area of the plot I will grow beans and anything else that takes my fancy :D

Looking to grow Tomatillo's this year, to make some nice salsa with.

I asked @Mark Davies if he could get any, and he did and now I'm just waiting for them to pop.

Just been over today to concrete the posts into the ground for tunnel number 2 :-

My plan this time with this tunnel was to add 'Height', what you'll see from the pics is treated timber at key areas (corners and centre of the longest side), I have then got some scaffold boards and have sat the perimeter steel tubing of the tunnels frame on top of the scaffold boards, I have drilled through the bottom perimeter tubes and have screwed this down to the scaffold boards, the scaffold boards in turn are screwed to the posts. The posts are treated and have been spiked with annular ring nails, to get a better hold into the concrete. I have also screwed through the second rail up from the ground, into the posts which are concreted into the ground as well.

When I put the cover on, I will use treated timber on the outside and roll the tunnel cover around the treated timber and then screw this timber to the scaffold boards, which will hold the cover down nicely.

At a later date, I was planning on cutting a centre section out of the bottom (scaffold board and bottom tube, so that a nice sized door can go in, and I can also wheel a barrow etc into the tunnel, without having to lift it over the 10" step which I have created, but I needed to get these 6 holes dug and posts in first.

              Hi Nathan,

Looks like your doing similar to what I have done here http://gardenerscorner.co.uk/forum/threads/steves-polytunnels.33033/page-5#post-915208

With the end ground bars I used them only to get the correct spacing so the initial cover (that came with the tunnel) fits correctly, then I removed the end ground bars completely to facilitate the doors, as you can see in the photo's on the above link.

When I come to replace the cover with real poly plastic, I'll raise the batons so my tunnel is taller too, I decided that there was not enough cover on the one supplied to go ten inches higher straight away. I'll be interested to see how it works for you.

              Steve...:)

Went and screwed the Scaffold boards to the sides today.

And yes Steve, I did have the same idea about the steel bottom bar, but I am going one further, I'm going to put 2 door posts in, which will also be concreted into the ground and will be fixed to the top timber which I have fixed in place between the 2 rails which run the full length of the tunnel (fixed by way of 2 galvanised steel angle brackets). Once the 2 posts are in the ground they will be screwed to the scaffold board, and once the concrete has set, the scaffold board/steel tube will be cut out of the way to leave a 4' wide doorway.

                    That's what I did.

I put mine on a brick on edge plinth and built up the soil levels around the outside.
