I'm in Wales, and you're right we don't see much of it here :phew: I knew there was a reason I liked it in Wales so much. :heehee: Don't even think about sending us some though!! :nonofinger:

UKIP for me if only to give a different party a chance.

I like immigration and have no problems with it tbh it produces a richer more interesting society.

I think its lazy to blame immigrants for our problems

Altho im not ok with lazy immigrants who want to bleed the system dry the same way as im not ok with lazy british people who do the same but that tends to be the minority either way. I agree with not allowing child benefit to go to children who are not in this country. I think that is something that should be implemented.

The debate didnt change my mind i know who im voting for and every quiz i do that tells you who you should vote got based on policies i get who i was going to vote for anyway.

I wouldn't say that I blame immigrants for our problems as such.

What I would say is that Europe as a whole is being run on cheap labour from the old eastern bloc countries and other poor countries.
Main reason that they allowed them to join.
But I think they forgot to exclude them from the Euro, there by shooting themselves in the foot.

I think its fairly well known that immigration has reduced pay in the lower paid jobs market, and what government would not want that?

As for a richer and more interesting society, well I guess it means we dont need to go on holiday any more.

A woman friend of my Son had a nice little cleaning job which she liked and helped a lot with some extra cash, she was told the other week that she was no longer needed!!! Reason, they had hired a polish woman instead because she was prepared to work for less.

        Agreed @ARMANDII

from what i have seen and heard the same arguments regarding immigration were spouted years ago when it was afro carribeans and asian people coming over. You could take tv clips from back then and now and it would look exactly the same.

And in my opinion society didnt fall apart or suffer. i love multicutural britain. I love all the diverse cultures you get in Birmingham and have wonderful friends from so many types of different backgrounds

We do need to adjust and work kinks out and employers need to not take advantage of the people who will work for cheaper because remember they have to pay to live here too and often their living conditions arn't great and all they want to do is improve their life. Which is all any of us wants to do. Some immigrants come here on promises of a better life and work and are left and are taken advantage of. the immigrants are not the problem it is the exploitive employers who are the problem

What made me laugh is the programme costa del sol brits or something that was on BBC the other night. the spanish people interviewed were saying exactly the same things about the english as the english people are saying about eastern europeans. Just was so funny. The british girl was living in a 1 bed flat with 9 others they had had up to 12 living in there. They work in bars and get blamed for taking jobs from locals, they are blamed for not learning the language and the spanish were angry they were using their free healthcare which is paid for by spanish tax payers.

I think that at the end of the day it probably depends how patriotic you are, I am very patriotic,
I am old enough to remember when things in Great Britain were so so different, but if you have no objections to us all going into one big melting pot then obviously you will have no problem with immigration.

Yes @val i guess thats the difference i am not patriotic but i am a very very proud brummie. I will rep birmingham fully but Britain or England nah.

I guess without immigration my life would so so much different. I love jamaican food, chinese food, indian food, lebense food, japanese etc etc etc without immigration I wouldnt have those options. Im not that keen on traditional english food. if im honest if you gave me the choice between a jamaican meal of curry goat, rice and peas with plantain and dumpling etc or something like sheperds pie or hot pot I would choose the jamaican food any day

I wouldnt have the music i like which is Grime, bashment, bhangra, I dont think Grime would exist if immigration hadnt of happened and i could not live without my grime

If we could click our fingers and remove immigration I would be friendless. At college i was the white girl who was with all the asians who were a mix of eygptian, pakistani, indian, bengali heritage etc etc I learnt to cook jalebi and gulab jamun and learnt some punjabi and hindi and can still sing a long to aja mahi if it comes on

My friends now are mainly afro carribean and african heritage there is a big mix from jamaica, dominican republic, barbados, Trinidad, Nigerian, ghanian, gambian et etc I know how to cook ackee and saltfish and jallof chicken and rice. I know a bit of pigeon english (honestly im nit very good) and can understand most patois

My whole life has been shaped by immigration to this country and without it I wouldnt be me and do you know what not to be big headed but i dont think i turned out too bad lol

I think im a richer more well rounded cultured person because of immigration to this country and im grateful for it and think it should be celebrated and not demonised

Than considering i have irish, welsh, german and spanish heritage in me. Without immigration me and my family would not exist and that can be applied to most of us.

Val, there were no "the Good Old Days". In the 50's every one in this country was still feeling the financial effects of WWII, so there were low wages, ration books, bad diets etc, Polio, Scarlet Fever, Measles and all the rest, and we talked about immigration, the 60's and the Flower Power age were a distraction from the facts that we still had low wages, lots of people out of work, talked about immigration, etc. The 70's, 80's and 90's were only slightly different in quality of life, we still had our recessions, more people out of work, low wages, and we talked about immigration. The 21st century is here and we have had a recession, people out of work, low wages, and we talk about immigration.........there were no good old days, just the romanticism and nostalgia that we all attach to the days gone by.

I'm still thinking I'm going to stick with the conservatives, i didn't see all of the programme so I can't comment on that.
My only question is.....' What were the news programmes talking about before the election? , they don't seem to be able to report on much else since this election started!!' I'm sick of the news to be quite honest! :gaah:
