117...When you won't even book a holiday to a place unless there are large gardens to walk round within a 10 mile radius ...

        118. You have a sudden pang of guilt about leaving your tomatoes and peppers in the greenhouse overnight and hurry to bring them in. Thank goodness, it was 9.8C in there! "snow dig":heehee:

I just did exactly the same thing Charlie. The temperature outside is just over 2C and still falling, so the toms and peppers have been brought in for the night.

bugger that - you need a thermostatic plug to turn the heating on when it gets too cold

No power supply to mine, plus OH's theory is no point spending pounds to heat a GH to save pennies of plants. It's bubble wrapped and that's it for me. Probably have changed my mind by winter though. Already wouldn't mind a bigger/another GH!

Ah, but they aren't pennies if you have to replace them from the likes of Homebase etc.... Have you seen what they charge for a tray of petunia?

You also need to take into account the cost of travelling to the garden centre etc.

How many keen gardeners only go to garden centres and nurseries when they're just passing on their way to other places? For most gardeners I know 'just passing' is a euphemism! :snork:

                        120) Or think I must have a USB temperature data logger, despite having 8 digital max/min thermometers.

                        121) Then decide that simply comparing the detailed info from a USB temperature data logger against a single/two per day/overnight readings from a max/min is totally inadequate and you need a 2nd one to overlay temperature graphs (exported to Excel) of say inside polytunnel/outside polytunnel temps, inside polytunnel/inside polytunnel internal cloche, etc., etc.

EDIT: I can't understand why such info/comparisons don't feature in polytunnel books,or even general gardening books to show the benefits of polytunnels, fleeces, cloches, mulches, various forms of heating (including the likes of hotbeds), etc., etc.

Once again, it seems like if you want a job done properly you I have to do it myself.

I have one max/min in the greenhouse...didn't open the door today as predicted temps were low...a high of 42.3C was recorded. Whoops! Stupid work keeping me away from the garden.
