Walked across to the cliffs down to Dancing Ledge, 2 miles West of Swanage, saw some regulars and one new arrival.
Raven.

The humble ... ladybird

 

I forgot this one although not very clear, A Skylark and (behind) a Meadow Pipit together.

 

Marvellous Strongy

.....So it was a Skylark I saw in the garden the other day I saw 'this bird' in my garden,it landed briefly on the lawn ,I looked twice because from the back it looked like a Thrush (only seen one so far this year) then caught a side glimpse.I was too late with the camerabut with the crest and the distinctive white rim round the eyes I've got the ID.

 

Although we think of these two birds as resident, many are migrant and are arriving here in the hundreds, it's great to hear them singing everywhere.

 

had one of these on the Mahonia this morning. Such a pretty little thing. I rushed in to get the camera but she flew off before I could get the focus right . She had a bright ginger cropped blazer with a big round dark brown spot in the centre:

A walk to Middlebere farm (NT cottages) at the Western edge of Poole habour is normally a good place for returning migrants but apart from one Wheatear and this singing Chiffchaff there wasn't much at all!


But when I reached the farm, out of nowhere came a Barn Owl hunting in daylight and that made my day.








On the way back I saw a Red Legged Partridge, first one I've seen in this area.
