      Good to see you back @bexy13 :thumbsup: you've reminded me to my sweetcorn on the go.:blue thumb:

      I'm growing 'Super Sweet F1' this year and won't be soaking them just protecting them from any mice that might fancy a nibble:th scifD36:

      If this lovely weather we've been having recently keeps up we'll all be in for a good crop:fingers crossed:

      I'll be sowing my sweetcorn seed towards the end of April with a view to getting them out late May. I sow into Root Trainers (toilet rolls also work).
      And lots of watering and a hosepipe ban.

        @NigelJ ...I have some peat pots lying around and thought about using those this year for my Sweet corn to save root disturbance,are they any good? I've never used them before...

        I have found they don't seem to last very long. They start to decompose before you get them in the ground. If they are what I think they are. Sweet corn seeds need a long time to come up.

        @Lolimac
        Peat pots should be ok. Will certainly save root disturbance.

          I have the exact opposite problem Bexy,mine germinate fairly quickly and in the past have grown them in cells which they have looked uncomfortable with through waiting for the weather to warm up and also through sowing too early:doh:After having mixed results over the last few years I'm going for the sensible approach and sowing later:pathd:

            I never soaked my Sweet Corn prior to sowing. One thing worth mentioning, I found that the seed will readily rot off if the compost is too wet.

              I have found that presoaking actually rots the seed quicker you just have to find the sweet spot [emoji1]

              Thank you. I really appreciate. I have good days and bad days but the doctors are at a loose end as to what it is.

              I'm looking into some unusual varieties of veg and flowers any suggestions?

              I find that sweetcorn seed come through quite quickly once things have warmed up. Sitting in cold wet compost is fatal for the seeds and not very good for the seedlings either. I don't pre soak the seed. I have had problem with seed that was a couple of years old though.
              They appear to be one of those plants that needs to keep growing, which is why I use the Root Trainers.
