I've recently found out about this "pseudo cereal" as they call it and I quite like it. I cook it as if it was rice and add sauce to it. Have you ever had it before and what do you accompany it with?

Usually add add stock to the 'grain' then add herbs and chopped roasted peppers, onions, toms. etc to make a salad
Serve with any meat or fish
Been using for some time now as it is light and easy on the tum!
Had a go at growing it from seed (James Wong collection) not very successful last year, trying again this year in a different spot in the garden. It's meant to be easy to grow, so it must have been the growing conditions last year.:fingers crossed:

Have been using it for well over 20 years. We've always used it just like any other grain that we flavour whilst cooking.

few days ago I have found out of the existence of so called pigeon peas which are a bit exotic peas so to speak and they taste absolutely great!

They use it in Indian restaurants for making lentil soup. :blue thumb: Toor dhal or Orhor dhal depending on which part of the sub-continent the people are from.
