The pink weeping cherry has exploded in the last 2 days.
5 days ago, there was hardly a hint of pink in the bud.

Lovely to see springtime in everyone's gardens. :dbgrtmb: I noticed while out and about today that most of the cherries here are in bloom, at least three weeks ahead of last year.

Same here Sheal, I walked down the next street to me yesterday and I saw some Flag iris (Iris Germanica) (tall bearded iris) well into bud about 2 ft high. I remember growing these about 20/25 years ago and they always flowered end of may into June.

I wonder if it's due to the difference in our areas, you're Oxfordshire aren't you and I'm over in the Severn valley, we haven't had any snow for 4 years and we've only had 3 frosts this year.

I would say that has a lot to do with it. I noticed that the Wisteria is only just budding up.

Taken before the standards have expanded so you can see the lovely pattern on the falls. Next fully open and beautifully scented.

And this one was here when I arrived. Last year I rescued it from a shady overgrown spot and it's rewarding me handsomely. I've tried to id it and think it's likely to be the Cayeux bred 'Marie-José Nat'

Things tend to happen very quickly here once they start. We've had a few days of high 20s and two at 31C this week
Roses start mid April and are usually petering out before June. :spinning:
The wisteria is in full swing :)

Ha ha ha, yes bliss, but the plants in the greenhouse are frying, so have just finished a new shade tunnel and am fast moving stuff in. Now thunder and high winds forecast, so batten down the hatches! :thud:

interesting debate between Sheal and Longk about whether spring is early or late this year.

I was tidying up the photos on my Ipad last night, and i found a photo of our first apple tree coming into flower on 26th March. Here we are nearly a month later, and it is still in bud - will probably reach the same stage by the end of the weekend. So despite a relatively mild winter, with little snow, we are about 3 weeks behind last year....

Err, yes. I forgot to open the greenhouse up the pther day before I left the house. I remembered mid morning as the sun emerged and got back to open up at 11.45. It was 45°c in there :yikes:
