      Weeping and wailing, I think!!

We've had some lovely warm, nay, hot days here all week. Today, I thought I would pot on my chilli seedlings.

I took them outside to pot on, and then noticed they were not at all happy. Whilst the sun is warm, today we have a bitter cold wind. I fear I may have lost them all!!

      Edited.

I think I may have got away with it...
Indoors !!! I will be potting on my chillies, before putting them back in their nice cosy and warm room, whilst giving thanks for my good fortune.
Then, after a deep breath, it will be outside to cut the grass

I can definitely recommend doing this. It is lovely, years down the line, to look at various plants and think "that came from x", "that was when we were living in y"....

Brushed sand into gaps in the patio and path. 3 more slabs have come loose but luckily the lads are coming tomorrow to fix it fingers crossed. There are 9 wobbly slabs now and more seem to becoming loose by the day

Weirdly none of the ones in the areas that needed more sand are loose.

I removed a plant that died :-( and replaced it with a weigelia that arrived today

And then just been watering everything since we havent had any rain in ages

Today I got the shade net up on one greenhouse. Then I had a pot washing session and stacked them to dry in the other greenhouse. There will be plenty more of these sessions as we go through the main potting on and planting out season.

Yesterday and today has been potting on time. Lots of my seedlings yesterday and then 74 plug plants that came in the post today. Everything from delphiniums to tarragon. All nice healthy little plants, oh including globe artichokes, I haven't grown those before.
Also managed to plant a rose - Zepherine Drouhin - to go over an arch I haven't bought yet :heehee:

Potted on a ceanthous 'concha' as the raised bed isn't ready and it was pot bound/drying out. Pricked out some gypsophila and something I didn't label!
Sowed some gala blue asters and scabious black cat. Watered and fed everything as I'm away til Sunday night...recording at abbey road studios in London tomorrow! :blue thumb:

I moved the olive trees from the indoor growing area, where they have spent the winter, to the greenhouse. It is cramped for space, but I want lightly prune the trees before I place them on the deck for a summer outdoors. Things will settle down after I get the garden plants in the ground in mid May.

Still more edging done and hope to be finished soon.

The sowing, potting on, planting and tidying up department (Mrs Shiney) is getting on very well. Lack of protected space and propagator space is becoming a problem. So it's a matter of juggling things around and moving out some of the hardy plants that have popped up. I guess we have about 1,500 plants sitting around :rolleyespink:.

The allium siculum have come up nicely (about thirty pots with a few in each) so we'll find space outside. That's the other problem, lack of space outside as well

I've now finished off fixing the trellis :blue thumb:. What made it more complicated (apart from me being useless at it) is that it's lattice work, so is in a fairly heavy frame. The fence (it's my neighbour's) has concrete posts so the trellis had to be fixed to the top baton of the fence. Fortunately the fence has a nice heavy duty framework so it can take the weight. I had to fix a heavy baton to the top of the framework to extend it out past the concrete posts. As I had run out of long enough screws (never had them anyway :heehee:) I countersunk the ones I had and they have now done a firm job.

That's my DIY work for the year :roflol:
