If You Keep Clothing Long Enough It Comes Back In Fashion:dbgrtmb:.

I noticed two lads on Saturday night at a dance the wife and I were at.
They were dressed in a fashion from the fifties, the long jacket suits with Drainpipe trousers, bootlace bolo ties, thick sole sued shoes, and the 'Hairstyle', with the comb in the top pocket ready for an emergency..
I remembered when I wore this style in the fifties, the only problem with me was when the bespoke tailor asked me,"What length of jacket would you like sir?", I answered "Fingertips",
my problem was I had long arms (built like a Gibbon) with arms down to middle knee, the jacket was more like a long coat than a jacket ,(and I thought I was Cool) ?:th scifD36:.:th scifD36:..;).

What fashions do you remember wearing in your past ,and think back with a few titters and then think to yourself , (Hope The Kids Don't See These Photo's ):sofa:

oh my goodness, I grew up the decade of fashion disaster, (late 80's into 90's).. shell suits, jogging pants, tracksuits, duffle coats.. all kinds of disastrous clothing. I just always wore t-shirts and jeans - interestingly.. Jeans are the one item of clothing which transcends time and fashion.

For many years I possessed only jeans and leathers. Dad was a biker - it's a long story...........

My brother was a part time Teddy Boy the rest of the time a biking rocker. :)

My era was from mid sixties to early seventies and I loved the clothes. Flared trousers, granddad shirts, maxi coats and dresses, platform soles and some amazing colours and patterns too. :) This picture was to hand, quite soberly dressed for me at the time. The date says February '72 but probably the previous summer.

Music, you've described my old wardrobe quite well. :blue thumb: Then, in the early sixties, after leaving the merchant navy, I became quite conventional.

That was followed, in the seventies, by Budgie jackets and flared trousers. Although made of denim they looked and felt like normal material. Very fashionable. That fashion was started because of the hit TV series called Budgie and starring Adam Faith, who started that style. Adam was not only a big pop star but a film actor and TV star.

By the mid-eighties to late nineties I was mainly in shorts and T-shirts, even in the winter :rolleyespink: :heehee:

All this century I've spent most of the time in track suit and rugby tops.

Hi Shiney, We have very similar backgrounds .
I also left the Merchant Navy in the early sixties, and became quite conventional, if you want to call wearing a Powder Blue high collar short zip jacket, trimmed with a darker blue and a pair of flair trousers to match, and not forgetting the platform shoes :gaah:.

My Feet Are Still Killing Me To This Day:gaah:.:smile:.

Never mind, John Travolta Hadn't A Look In :smile::smile:,:blue thumb:.

I was a flower child of the 1960s - yes a fully fledged hippy! Looking back, I cringe somewhat when I think of how I changed my knee length brown leather boots into half red and half green (striped effect/harlequin style) .... what was I thinking? [IMG]

I Remember in the Fifties wearing drainpipe jeans, and I had inserted big silver round metal studs hammered through the outside of the legs of the jeans from just above ankle level to the top of the legs, I was cool, till I discovered I had not closed the four pin studs properly on the inside of the jeans:oopss:.

They scratched me every step I took, I suffered the discomfort /pain ,because I thought I looked Cool:cool:. Anything for style.:dbgrtmb:.
