    Hi JWK.

Following a link you posted, I came upon this old thread. After quickly reading through it, I was wondering what the outcome was with this ? What conclusions did you come to ?

    Cheers...Freddy.

Freddy; I'm still growing beans on this frame, it is working very well. The idea of being able to get a second crop underneath needs a liitle organising, this year I've got carrots underneath. I've got some brick steps amongst the carrots to avoid standing on them when I harvest the beans. The second crop needs to be fairly low growing, so far I've alternated between parsnips and carrots, which isn't good from a rotation point of view. I dug out all the soil and replaced it from the adjacent bed over winter.

I might adjust the frame next year to make it higher by another foot, because the beans hang down means I have to stoop down underneath them which is a bit awkward with a dodgy back.

    Hi John.

I'm thinking of doing something like this. Could you give me some idea as to the dimensions as they are ?

    Cheers...Freddy

    Hi Ziggy.

Tis good is that. I read a bit of some thread that mentioned the X frame. As I don't have a lot of space, and considering we don't eat a lot of runners, then I reckon JWK's set-up will suit me better. At the moment I grow them in a 5ft double row using the traditional A frame method. At the end of the rows is pretty much a wasted space of around 3-4ft. Using JWK's method would allow me to have a single row, thereby freeing up some space, which is nice :)

    Cheers...Freddy.

It's about 6ft high at the front sloping to 4.5 foot at the back. I've found that 6ft is too low, as the beans hang down making it difficult to walk under without stooping, so I wish I'd made it 7ft high sloping down to 5.5 foot. Obviously you make it as long as your plot allows. Hope that make sense Freddy. :dbgrtmb:
