I'm sorry, I have no idea how I missed this post
I got it as a cutting. It really needs to get into the ground but I'll wait another year just in case.
    Burncoose sell them......................

I have 2 Fairy Blues plus another that I cant remember the name of.....

I repotted the Fairy Blues a week or so ago as they were getting a bit big for their pots, think I may lose one though, one has new growth and leaves and the other......nothing! Wondering whether to cut it right down and hope for the best?? Any advice? :)

I've just had a look Wowie £27 inc p and p. However I've just ordered a catalogue from Chiltern Seeds as they sell the seeds of these and several other species for around £4. Burncoose are selling plants for £10 - 15 plus £13.50 p and p that I've paid £1 for.

Has anyone else lost hardy fuchsias over the winter? I have lost four all told, and I am gutted to say the least. Speaking to someone at work the other day, he was telling me that he has had similar losses :dunno:

I don't get it - they have survived prior winters just fine. Between losing these, and losing my brugmansia, this year is off to a bad start......

I've lost 2, both Tom Thumb. I don't know about you/your area but I think around here its because it's been too damp during the winter. We had no snow whatsoever and only 3 frosty nights but the trouble was the days were damp and cold.

And you aren't all that far north of me - it is so strange, as we haven't had all that many hard frosts, and no overnight lows that you would call severe (probably minus five at worst for a day or two); what is worse, I have no idea the varieties that I had as I am not big on names.

Quick Google reveals that is one of the ones I have lost; pretty sure I only had one of those. I have never been to Kidderminster, but I reckon you must be about 100 or so miles north-west of me? One of the others was hawk....something - - I think; silvery white, slim and very elegant flowers.

I've lost both my 'Microphylla's' , well I think I have, just giving them a couple of weeks to see if anything sprouts.

Is 'Hawkshead' what you mean FC? Mine's okay but has got three inches of dieback on every branch.

FC , not really a great Fuchsia grower, but I am getting into them now . I got two hardy bush Fuschias last year, Garden News ( never knew they were hardy ) - flowered really well . I cut them back in Feb and waited , and waited .... they are only just showing the regrowth this week. So maybe not too late for yours ?
This was Garden News in late September , it grew so big it blanked out all the other plants in the container ! Not really into pink flowers , but this one is really imposing, very Bling ! :dbgrtmb:

Hawkshead - that sounds like the fellow. Pretty wee white flowers (remind me of we women ballet dancers )

Two of the others were the same - Pink outer petals, white inner petals and red stamen; not a clue what they are called though. I have those climbing ones too (Lady Boothby?) in a pot and there is no sign of life with them either.

Just googled your Garden News one - pretty wee things. I suppose I will just have to wait and see if anything wakes up yet, and if not that would suggest that it is time to go shopping.....

Usually quoted as tender but I've found it proper hardy.

Sorry, but there is no such thing as a climbing Fuchsia. It is just a tall growing Fuchsia. Not having a go at you FC, it's the marketing people I'm popping off at! And I never found it hardy either.
