What jobs are we doing in the Garden today 2015

Today will be mostly involving round 547 of Sarah vs the great chickweed menace, sowing peas and dwarf french runners, panicking over the frost predicted this week, cleaning out the chicken coop and then heading up the allotment to carry on with my raised beds!

Phew, I'm knackered just thinking about it all...

 

My god, you'd been up and working in the garden for 3 hours before I even considered getting out of bed LOL

 

I would love to build a beehotel, but my kids have decided to be randomly terrified of anything that vaguely resembles a bee or wasp. :(

 

Maybe thats why you should get one so you can show that the bees wont hurt them and they just want to go about their business making nests etc

its what my parents did with my brother who was terrified of dogs they went and got two dogs lol

 

LOL. Harsh but I bet it worked.

I've been working with them to see and understand how bees etc contribute to the garden and planet but I swear they just love the drama...

 

will try to dig out some wild either violets or prim roses, yellow crap best to call it . Anyway, I have someone coming over today that wants to "BUY" with MONEY, a bunch of my Virginia Blue bells, so good for me. Will be digging those out need to thin them anyway. And he wants to also BUY some of my hardy geraniums too and they also need a little wangling too. So there you go, by the end of the day I 'll be in money. LOL.

 

Yeh worked really well

His fear of dogs was justified as well as a Newfoundland knocked him over as a kid and played with him like a football

My parents did tell him about getting dogs and he was involved with the decision and they got one Labrador puppy and then another a year later. He is completely fine with dogs now although he hasn't met another Newfoundland yet lol

 

I've cleared out some space in the (very packed) garage to my gardening stuff now that I no longer have a greenhouse (which was purely used for storage). The lawn is now piled high with stuff for the skip. The one the builder ordered is quite small and is nearly full already, so I am going to ask him, when he orders another one, if he could get a larger size and I'll pay the difference. That way I can have a clearout.

 

I am actually going to have to do some dead heading today. time keeps moving. thank goodness fresh daffs still blooming and more on the way.

 

It's not through choice...lol. I'm battling my own Black Dog at the moment and I wake up at stupid hours in the morning and can't get back to sleep. Plus I'm looking after someone who isn't well so I get woken up with that too and can't get back to sleep. As you know, gardening helps but everything is a massive effort. 3hrs sounds good but I don't think I got that much done!

 

Ah, sorry to hear it. My sleep tends to be more restless and iffy throughout the night rather than waking up early. Though having said that I don't mind waking up when the birds are starting their dawn chorus though, I could happily listen to that anytime.

 

A small, somewhat amusing "job". I opened my kitchen window (which overlooks my back garden) whilst cooking, only to find that it would not close again. Closer inspection revealed that the surrounding ivy (from a nearby wall) had grown too close and had suddenly "dropped" into the place where the window frame would be closing.

I love a naturalistic garden but, at times, there has to be limits....so I yanked back the intruding ivy!

 

First plant sale, Virginia blue bells got $50.00.

 

A good Bootle special then Fern , fried egg butty and a mug of tea.

 

well what have I been up to ....., Friday helped out in my mates mums garden she is 83 or 84 so thats how I got the two bin bags of dahlias tubers she didnt want any more ( still in the ground) , it looked nice and tidy when we all finished.

Potted all the dahlias up in huge pots , I will have to get more compost now for the greenhouse toms etc , all the front borders mulched over with horse muck and 70% of the back garden borders , looks like my Cercis canadensis 'Forest Pansy has died why I dont know I have had it 5 years and looked ok even going into the winter everything looked fine put on new growth last year and flowered well last spring , gutted to be honest , but thats gardening for you ....

all lawns cut .... watered pots again !!! well the weather was so much better than the weather people said it would be ..... 1 or 2 hours of fine rain Friday that was it !
