Went to Slimbridge wetland recently. There are increasing number of Avocets taking up residence here over the past few years.

Great to see Avocets spreading around the country.:dbgrtmb:
Most of the few hundred here have gone back to Holland to breed and won't be back until October.

Oh thank you @Spruce ! (Sorry for the delay in replying - was visiting friends in the Netherlands this weekend)

Definitely looks familiar (can't go out and check, as they are currently sulking in their closed tunnels because we are being truly blessed with some rain). One of the photos does show the yellow hind legs, so maybe the bright yellow was pollen after all? We do currently have lots of dandelions in flower, as well as yellow tulips.

The habitat sounds spot on too...!

Not much different in our garden to spot. The pheasants are around all day long but they now seem to have stopped coming to the feeder at the same time. The four males seem to have agreed on which shift they take and each seems to have a few females.

Whitey always has early shift (and the longest one), then it's Goldy followed by Big Ears and then No Ears. :)

Mrs Shiney did her usual bird doctor job yesterday. I found an unconscious robin on the patio and Mrs Shiney revived it with diluted Rescue Remedy and lots of stroking and gently talking to it.

I only took a quick, out of focus, photo as it started to get agitated if I went near it. It seemed quite happy if I didn't get anywhere near it :noidea: It took about ten minutes before Mrs Shiney decided it was well enough to be released. She kept it in the kitchen until then because Sarafi was patrolling outside - he had his eye on one of the female pheasants and the Goldy was standing guard.
