So I've been asked to carve/turn some wooden fruit for someones fruit bowl and have so far made an apple and about to start a pear today.

    IMG_20150428_180818346_HDR[1].jpg

Apples, pears and bananas are quite obvious but what other fruit would everyone else put in their ideal fruit bowl?

As you can tell I don't have a fruit bowl, I keep all mine in the fridge.

I was going to say grapes but then realised that would be immensely difficult to carve.

Impressive apple JJ :blue thumb: We sometimes have a Pineapple in the fruit bowl - not to sure how easy that would be to turn-carve.
( I was going to say grapes as well ! )

I could do grapes, just lots of little balls really. Joining them together would be interesting though.

          Good morning Jane,
I had a pash for wooden fruits and a bowl in the early 1980's . The bowl is a carved root of Tasmanian Myrtle and the fruits are of various woods. Sorry, not a true colours of the fruits - they are rich and golden - poor lighting this morning. Hope there's a bit of inspiration there,
          Jenny

Fantastic stuff. I love the bowl too. I see some banksia nut in your fruit. I have some of that and want to stay away from that at all costs. Sticking it on the lathe you get thousands of seeds shooting out at 1750 rpm :hate-shocked:

Done a pear yesterday and today hopefully will have a stab at a banana. The lady who commisioned me has asked me to do 5 pieces so I need to figure out what the next two will be. I like the idea of making some cherries but no one really puts cherries in their bowls do they?

My fruit bowl would consist of more exotic fruits like mangoes, passion fruit, etc plus cherries, strawberries, apricots and definitely some peaches. How about a peach?

Have you tried getting inspiration from a Google image search? I saw this fruit composition and thought it looked very tasty ... not sure how do-able it would be in terms of carving though ... [IMG]

I imagine blackberries would be quite time consuming to do, strawberries would be quite interesting though. I did try google but google is a bit faceless and I wanted to get real peoples opinions on what they would like to see. My job can be challenging at times as I have to think on behalf of the customer and what they would expect to see and other people would recognise.

I do when they're in season.
I also have Physalis in there. I often have a mango or two in there under the bananas to ripen.
