I just did some watering today and inspected everything that is shooting, growing or forming buds. One of the plants in my new raised bed has been nommed to the ground already. I'm suspecting pigeons/collared doves as we have both. I think it was a nepeta, was from an unlabelled selection. Oh well.

Cat decided to have a fight right on top of the Buddleja snapping off half the new shooting branches. Very annoying as it looked lovely already (Santana so lovely foliage). I decided to nip out the top of the remaining shoots to try and encourage them to branch. I figure it's early enough for it to recover!

Will be a blessing in disguise @JackJJW and with a "forgive the cat/ plant food treat" it will be fine,

Getting on with work stuff for now as there are roofers re-roofing the bungalows at the end of the garden and I don't fancy gardening with an audience so waiting till after 4ish and and then i will be out weeding

Deadheaded a few bulbs, tied in a few stems, watered some pots that looked like they needed it, realised that my canary creeper seeds have germinated. I'd just about given up on them :dancy: I only need a couple of plants so I should get those. Did a bit of weeding. Came indoors for a cup of tea.....it's chilly in the wind. :coffee:

I planted out some cabbage in the allotment last night, doused the mares tail and hoed inbetween the broad beans. Looked into my electric propogator to see my Lavender and Nemesia seeds have germinated beautifully so will pot them on this weekend - over the moon with these as always imagined Laveder would be a nightmare to grow!

My friend gave me a huge troughy type thing and I've planted beans (runner or broad - ticket fell off!!) tomatoes and sunflowers at the bottom of the garden in the sun trap. I am going to have tons of strawberries and pine berries later this year as there are loads of flowers. Gooseberries as well. Watered the stuff left in the greenhouse and noticed the flower patch has started to germinate at last, there are about 12 different kinds of flowers in there and I can't remember any of their names, so it will be a surprise when they come up! Raining now quite heavily so reluctantly have come indoors.

Shhh! Don't let @longk know :heehee:

Yesterday I got 15 x 70litre sacks of horse manure from the farm and dug it into the compost heaps (I've done all my composting for this year), bought another 4 x 70 litre Wickes compost for potting on the chillies. Also did a bit of digging and weeding.

As usual, Mrs Shiney did a lot more than me but all her work is sowing, potting on, repotting plants from the nursery areas that have been there a year, tidying them up, dumping the ones that haven't survived or not done well, cleaning the winter leaves from the pots and dowsing all the older pots in vine weevil killer.

Vine weevil can be hand killed when repotting or potting on but ones that don't come into that category (a thousand or more) all get done as they will be for sale. Any pots of plants that are given to us, or bought, get the vine weevil treatment.

Today I shall start on weaving the roofs for the ShineyFrames. I do that in stages as it means stretching upwards which doesn't help my back and neck problems - but it's well worth it.
