Weather seems to be looking good next week . Daytime and night time temps are up a lot from this cold snap we have had. I hope to start hardening a few plants off by the back end of next week. I take them out of the GH in the morning before work , and put them back in early evening. Not my favourite gardening chore !:noidea: Anyone else doing this soon ?

Yes I'll be hardening stuff off this week. It's not my favourite job either. All my seed sowing is done for the year now and I'm looking forward to having the window sills back. I can't wait til everything is planted out with the hard work being done so I can relax with just the odd bit of tweaking like deadheading and feeding here and there. :spinning:

I started hardening off three weeks ago when we had that warm spell, way too early in retrospect. On the good side it's good exercise - on the bad side I usually knock over or break some plants squeezing in and out the greenhouse. I'm not expecting to plant outdoors till next week

Nothing going out yet, had three frosts this week, so like Harry, I'll not chance anything till the end of next week but we could still get frosts after that here.

Not had any frosts here ( :phew: ) and I've been hardening off some of my seedlings for the past 10 days.
Did bring my tomatoes in from their cold frame though, so they may be having day trips out when the weather is more stable.

I've been hardening off for the last couple of weeks but everything has been back in the GH tucked up well before tea time, although had some really warm days the temperature has really dropped by late afternoon.Already made one mistake and forgot about my nicotianas  I'm going to try and resuscitate them today:fingers crossed:

I took the lid off the potato cloche last week, couple of leaf edges got frosted but no real damage :phew:

Plants have outgrown the frame now anyway.

It went down to 1 deg C at the plot last night, and minus 3 deg C a few days ago, still too cold for some stuff even in polytunnels. I'm putting loads of stuff out in the garden at home whehn temps get to 10 dec C (around 9:00), and putting it away when it drops to that again of an evening/afternoon.

One more cold night tonight and it looks like I'll be putting loads of stuff in tunnels and not a moment too soon because masses of plants need potting up and I've run out of space back home to keep them warm overnight.

I left 2 begonias out on the front path this Sunday - a very cold night - they are in the green bin now !
Same here John , never quite enough room to manoeuvre safely without skittling something over !

We've had no frosts here either - not for ages although the temps have been chilly overnight. Plants will be going out only in the day time for now and I'll bring them in overnight. I heard the BBC weather forecaster say that there is potential for gales off Irish Sea coasts tomorrow so they'll be indoors all day tomorrow if that proves to be correct.

No frost either here, but still very close with temperatures falling between 2-4C minimum.. a good 3-4C below average for the time of year. All my plants have to just get on with it.. no mollycoddling here :-)

I tend to use a cold frame.
I have bubble poly that I can roll down over the glass should it get too cold at night.

But still got lots in the greenhouse, mainly in order to wake up overwintered things.

I always hold back on sowing anything that is really tender, so as not to get into the situation where I cant move stuff out quickly enough.
For instance, my outdoor toms are still only 2ins high.
But they will grow like crazy this month, I'm sure, ready to plant out in early June.

Gales aren't forecast here for tomorrow Fern but it is forecast to be windy next week.

Our temperatures should be up to around 7C overnight next week so I may start hardening off later in the week.....wind permitting.
