These are a few ot my drawings, all done freehand using pencil.

I have an aim to draw every cathedral in Europe ( so far around 800 out of almost 2000).

    These are

Very impressed Anthony ... you are certainly talented indeed. I studied architectural draughting in the 60s and have designed all my homes but I cannot draw like you. I shall follow you with interest.

Your drawings are beautiful Anthony, what an amazing talent.

Glasgow Cathedral (the original) would be an excellent UK project for you, if not done already. And, further afield, what about the wonderful Cologne Cathedral? When we visited Cologne, I was taken aback by the sheer scale of the Cathedral.

Do you plan which ones to visit and draw, or is it much more an opportunistic hobby you have?

I know Coventry Cathedral was smashed during the war, when the Luftwaffe pulverised Coventry, but what happened to Peel (the 2nd drawing as posted?) was this wrecked during the reformation, or simply abandoned?

If you were willing to draw other types of religious building - Pluscarden Abbey would be excellent fodder. Its is the only medieval monastery building in the UK still inhabited by monks and still used for its original purpose (though this use has been interrupted at times).

Please share more of your drawings with us!

                        Hi Sheal

This is the original cathedral if St German which is situated inside the castle and was a cathedral from the 9th to the 16th centuries ( at which time the IOM was part of Norway).

It fell into ruin through neglect during the 18th c.

In the 19th c it was decided that the IOM should once again have its own cathedral and the chapel of St Nicholas at Bishopscourt palace was made the provisional cathedral.

It wasn't until 1980 that the parish church of St German ( built 1879/84) in Peel town was designated the new cathedral of the diocese.

                          Hi Gabriel, thanks

I've compiled a list of everywhere in Europe that has or has had a cathedral from books/websites and visits. I've been concentrating on UK, Ireland, France, Italy, Poland as these are the countries with the most.

                          Here you are...

                          Glasgow St Mungo
                          Glasgow St Mary (episcopal)
                          Glasgow St Andrew (RC)
