@M i know there is stuff in place but right now i cant remember the figure of how many people actually get to use those services. I do know it is very low.

I also dont think drug user should be criminalised for using or possession because having a crinimal record makes things even harder to get jobs and becoming a functioning member of society

i think everyone wants as many people as possible to be full functioning members of society who contribute and I dont think criminalising a user is right

I think users who rob and steal because of their drugs and commit crimes on others should be punished for that crime but not for using.

I also think drug dealers should obviously be punished as well as.

But a drug user who has been arrest and charge for possesion for personal use or using should not become a criminal and should be treated as a health issue instead and the money thats used to but them in prison should be used for treatment instead

Just read it - smoke and mirrors in my opinion.
Drug related deaths run at about 4000 to 4500 per year depending on the source. I found no figures regarding how many of those were caused by bad drugs (as in lethally toxic). Alcohol deaths per year are double that and rising. Now I'm not naive - I appreciate that the chances of making a mistake with drugs are higher but I do believe that regulation of quality would save some of those lives. I also appreciate that they are the thoughts of someone who was largely in control of their drug use and who from the off would never touch heroin or crack.

Interesting also that we are having this discussion on a gardening forum when society at large prefers to avoid the issue unless it has touched them directly.

We talk about everything on GC. It's a good thing when such a disparate group of people can discuss amicably (usually) such controversial topics.

Just loosely connected but it always makes me smile when I think of it. A few years ago my Son and a friend were in Holland, my Sons' friend brought back a small amount of cannabis, a really small amount which he wrapped tightly, then wrapped again, then wrapped it in foil, concealed in a cigarette box, put in a holdall and put all his clothes on top of it before zipping up the bag. When they went through customs the Springer spaniel sniffed it out instantly!!! What a nose!!!!! :yikes: :heehee:

For our area no problems at all my mind is firmly made up on that one and it will be a local lady who works so very hard helping local people and local issues ..

It's the national vote or our parliamentary candidate I'm stuck on .

Did your MP do much for the Constituency last time? If they did then vote for them. If they didn't then vote for someone you think will do better.

From what you've said in this topic, I guess that you won't vote Tory under any circumstances :heehee:

@val did you know that cadaver dogs can detect corpses buried underground and even underwater and dogs can even sniff out cancer in the human body? It is incredible how sensitive their noses are :doggieshmooze:

Our local MP is hopeless he really is and I did not live in this area so did not vote for him.

I'm tempted to vote labour if only as protest vote.
I can't quite get my mind to agree to vote UKIP and Clegg ? Well I don't think he's that bad and I do appreciate he did what he could in the coalition but he was just a minority voice.

Still clueless to be honest but if I don't vote I feel I may have wished I had .

Its not the only time he has changed his mind - at one point, he voiced his disdain for the political establishment (fair enough), then changed his mind and wanted to become a politician (admirable - if you don't like something, do something positive to change it), then he changed his mind again and went back to saying that politics are a waste of time.

Please don't feel bombarded, or under any obligation to respond within a certain time even - we are all here having a chat and enjoying each others company - it shouldn't be arduous :) Besides anything else, the truth is that yet again GC has done itself proud, because here we are still discussing and sharing points of view about a very contentious subject, yet there is no falling out, and everyone is sharing their point of view most eloquently.

You are correct too, he DOES have the ears of some of the younger generation, and that hopefully cannot be a bad thing - - I just have a bit of a problem with the man himself, however I am quite sure that there are as many people who like and respect him as there are who don't :spinning:
