No, not here it appears, Anthony:dunno:. There were around 7 parties standing for the Council with around the same for the Wards with you being able to cast 3 votes for each.:coffee::snork:

Well, it's your right to vote how you please and it was just a suggestion for you to get a different experience and was only in response to your musing.:coffee::snork:

Voted at 7 this morning , just gave my name and address and I got three voting slips. General election , local council , and the parish election. We pay a bit extra council tax for the parish council who seem to do a good job improving our facilities. Now we have to look forward to several weeks of the national lot forming a working coalition.

This became a big problem in Northern Ireland/Ulster during 'the troubles'. It's known as personation when somebody attempts to/uses somebody else's vote and is obviously more successful when the fraudsters target regular non-voters or recently deceased voters on the electoral role.

If a second person attempts to vote using the same name/polling number as somebody who's already voted then subsequent vote(s) are marked on special 'tendered' ballot papers (used to be pink and in a separate book) provided by the Presiding Officer, put in a special envelope, entered in the ballot paper reconciliation and are a dreaded event for anybody working in a polling station.

Are you sure that they weren't the party reps canvassing for your vote? :heehee:

So was mine (councillor, not MP). We had words, then there was a scene. Ohhhh dear! I have told him in the past that he is not to ever try to talk to me, especially not good after it took me twenty minutes to park.

I agree completely. We have a load of roadworks around our area today (roads closed and near gridlock, to the point that it took me nearly two hours to cover 8 miles), and I wonder how many people would be put off going just by sitting in the traffic?

Also, for people of all ages, online voting could give them more opportunity to learn about the candidates and their policies before making a decision. If I am honest, I voted for parties and not candidates (in fact, I haven't a clue on the names of the candidates I have voted for, and that really isn't how it should be); I'd like to bet that I am not alone in doing so too.

Lets face it, it is all about parties in a general election.
Your local MP tends to follow party lines, rather than bother if some scruffy individual voted for them.
If they dont, they might get De-selected, is that a real word?

We have a history. People used to be polite to him in our local but I wasn't - I asked him to go sit elsewhere as his BO is really bad.
