I've been watching the election results for the past 13 hours, with about 3 hours' sleep in there somewhere. I may have to have a nap shortly :snooze:

The NHS wont be privatised i think that is just scaremongering

The NHS is not working as it is and if it carries on we will lose it anyway as its not sustainable. It needs to be reformed and get back into a healthy state where it can meet the demand but that doesn't mean privatisation

But something does need to change

The reason NHS is not working well is that it is being deliberately run down in order to make going private look attractive! It's a calculated ploy!! Just giving it more money to save it from going under is not enough...there needs to be a solid, meaningful injection of cash to resurrect it and this is highly unlikely with a Tory government.

The nhs is failing because of labour and the employment if too many managers etc plus the whole hospital trust thing was all labour and that cost loads they actually started privitisation

Labour spent too much and made too many jobs in the public sector that werent needed and the economy ended up a mess

Anyone who came in after would of had to make cuts to claw it back and yes times havnt been great but it needs to be done so anyone who would of come in would have been the bad guy

It does need more cash and the best way to get that is to get the economy going and healthy which will create more jobs which will mean more money going into the system and more money for services and the nhs

I have several friends who are nurses working in my local hospital. Without exception they work for agencies. They say this means they can earn as much but they have the flexibility to work when they want. I presume then that the NHS must be paying the agency as well as the nurses salaries. In my book that's pretty much already privatised so I'm not sure what we think we're actually protecting.
Free for the patient at the "point of delivery" but very costly as far as the taxpayer is concerned.

It will end up like America in a bit, were you have to have insurance to be seen.

I totally agree that the NHS needs an overhaul in how it is run. However, it is on its knees financially now and is only being given enough to save it from going under totally, i.e. papering over the cracks. It's blatantly designed to make privatisation look attractive - I think many see the writing on the wall here.

You seriously think the Tory government are interested in saving the NHS? [IMG] :wow:

Why do you think they dont?

As someone who lives on less than £4000 a year im not worried and at the end of the day you cant do anything without a healthy economy

I stand by what i say get the economy back on track, create more jobs, get more momey in the system and then more money goes to services and the NHS

I'm as amazed as the "professionals " who NEVER predicted such a strong vote for Cons. But I am equally proud that our wonderful British democracy has been allowed to determine who gets to N0.10. And it's all been achieved without a riot but with typical British dignity,

Well hopefully if the economy picks up and we get more money it would be nice.

In the mean time i wont be having children so doing my bit for the schools lol

On another note Val i keep thinking you have a disagree rating next to all your posts because of the picture not working in your signature. It gets me every time as i keep forgetting.

                              Random not serious question but

when it comes to the election does whoever is living in No10 have to pack up ready just in case?

So depending on the results they can just leave a bit like a big brother eviction ( i dont watch big brother but im pretty sure they pack there bags when they are up for eviction)
