    That looks lovely now!

I like your idea of filling the bed with annuals whilst you think about long-term plans/plants.
A summer season of living with the new layout will help you decide. You may want to put a light canopy tree in there, with the climbers running up it. Or a pergola. Or one lovely cacophony of colour and texture of herbaceous plants.
...you need time to think and ponder, as if it was a new garden. After all, it is a new vista!

I didn't realise they could pull it out from the road.
I envisaged large machinery driving through your garden.

Thank you everyone. :) Right now I've got a whole load of annuals sitting in my greenhouse waiting to fill the bed, but unless the weather changes they'll still be sitting there come autumn!:biggrin:

It's funny you should say that, I was thinking along those lines yesterday.

Unfortunately I can't do that Sian because I have the gas main running through the left side of the bed and the sewer main running through the right side.

That wouldn't have been possible without demolishing my 30ft carport, greenhouse and shed. :heehee: They did say if they couldn't pull it out it would be dug out with a spade....or two. :)

You may well be right Loli! I'll think on that.

I dont think a telegraph pole would rot very fast, they are mostly or completely loaded with creosote.
Lets face it, its been dead wood for quite a few years already.

You're certainly pushing the Physio Anthony, so you are setting up in business then! :heehee:

I'm beyond caber tossing and physio help. Arthur Itis has seen to that. :)

Makes a big difference to the garden Sheal .... that would have driven me batty as it was LOL
I had occasion to cut one down, then had one given to me by a friend, and the two were used to rebuild the bridge over to the island in the Japanese Garden. Hoping they will last 60 years like yours did :)
