    This................
From my point of view I wouldn't be comfortable with it (for the reasons in my previous post).

I'd prefer it - albeit a not too healthy a balance -to the CONs /SNP vote that we have now.
Scotland will cost us a fortune in Travel and Subsistence alone. I feel the voters were expressing their Immigration concerns @longk,

But that is not what we have now. The tories have an absolute majority - the SNP are not players in any way, shape or form. Under PR we would have had a hung parliament with a tory/UKIP coalition being the strongest potential alliance meaning that the SNP vote would have held sway. However you do the maths the SNP would potentially have the strongest position in the commons under PR.

So what's the best solution to get it fair then?

Surely the conservatives with 38% would have won a majority and still got in ?

Under the PR figures they have 36.92% which leaves a potential opposition (of the rest of The House combined) of 63.08%. Far from a majority. As it stands under the current system they have 52.6% and thus an absolute and clear majority in The House.

        But isn't that the point?
We need more rentable accommodation, as house prices are rising out of reach of most people earning normal kind of wages.
That is down to the housing associations, and they dont have any money, unless they can sell off some their stock.

Although I must admit, there are lots of people that seem to be getting well paid, bearing in mind the houses they are buying and the amount of cars they have.

House builders will not build so called, and the name is a joke, affordable housing.
        Its not in their interests.

They are building hundreds of houses around here, on land that the big building companies have sat on, for probably 20yrs in some cases.
        Mostly green fields.
They are now seeing it profitable to build on those sites.

There is no way, in this part of the country that building more houses will lower the price, anyone who says that is a house builder.

As I understand it, and I may be wrong, there are houses up North that are standing empty, nobody wants them.

To me that shows an imbalance in the country, and lets face it, we aint that big.

So I would say, stick that high speed rail thing, (HS2?) in place and get this country working as one country, not just building on this bit down here.

Obviously people don't feel that the system we have is fair or they wouldn't be rioting.
UKIP did well didn't they ;) and personally I was hoping for a Tory/UKIP coalition, I think people would have been more content with this.

It was a very small number and certainly not representative of the UK population as a whole.

I think that if the population at large thought that was a likely scenario then both parties would have suffered the same fate as the Lib Dems.

Must admit Ukip do ring my bells, but I think they are too "one issue" in order to get any power in government.
They need to grow up a bit, come up with something on all fronts, or they will die.

But it is nice to see that other parties are making in-roads into the two party system that we have had for so long.

Hasn't that been the case for quite a good number of years now though?
Er ... that was the "theory", yes :) But, I think it's fair to say, that isn't the reality in a good number of places. ;)
