Potted on 20 Nasturtiums... a bit of a tedious job but I only want the red ones, so until they flower they're all getting special treatment :) Planted out my Lupin the pages too. After umming and ahing over where to put them, I found a spot and stuffed them in. Also potted on the Ricinus which are really rocketing.

Hardening off Dahlias and courgettes too now. Moved all verbena bonariensis and rudbeckia seedlings outside to harden off too.

Squashed loads of aphids. Threw away a few snails!

Planted up the climbing beans on their wigwams - Scarlet Emperor runners, Blauhilde and Bridgwater climbing French. - I have kept some of each in reserve in the cold frame - just in case we get a late frost.

Planted out sprouts and collards under debris netting. Dug over greenhouse borders ready to plant out climbing beans today. Planted supermarket-bought greek basil. Watered pots of spuds in poly, they are really growing now. Threw away 5 dead twigs that were from the Salvia collection which hadn't survived the winter and discovered one with the tiniest green leaf at the base, so repotted it quickly

Been getting stuff outside to harden off. I need to empty some containers of nearly spent spring plants as I want the pots for the things I'm hardening off. I'm going to do some feeding and tying in plus some general tidying/weeding. First though I'm taking a break with a mug of tea. :coffee:

Weeding, weeding, weeding, and then some weeding. :phew: Moving the sprinkler around the garden as some areas are now quite dry. Apart from the fact that the plants need it (some are not looking happy) it helps me with the weeding.

Temperature today has just topped 75F and still rising!

Filled half a wheelie bin with chick weed that seems to have gone mad. :hate-shocked:

Still tidying up trying to get ready for Open Day. am having trouble trying to find places to store stuff that is normally left around the garden, under hedges, in car port, under pergola. We really need three more sheds - for a start.

I have also cut out a lot of dead stuff from shrubs and trees.

Time to get out there again!

Cut the grass, and then went napalm on my lavatera in the back border - - they were getting utterly out of hand, so have been reduced to a mere fraction of their former selves; if they don't survive, then so be it.

Things in the greenhouse are looking OK, but I still feel that I am miles behind where I should be.

                  Watering...

Gonna spend next weekend setting up an irrigation system and mulching even more because everything is flopping in the midday sun and we're only in May!

Put up the blow away greenhouse just as agale started up .Typical;)

I thought the heron had had half my fish but they were just hiding under the blanket weed which had gone nuts because there was too much uneaten food In the water. Still too cold for them to eat much, crazy:fishing:

Aldi have 15m drip hoses at £6.99
Let me know how you get on because I go away for 2 weeks in July and have no one to water the garden for me!

Planted 30 gladioli, did abit of weeding. Squashed more aphids in the GH then sprayed
dragged a load out of the GH and it's stopping out tonight lows of 11'c supposedly.

Not a lot really ... but I did go around poking wooden bbq skewers in the soil next to any bindweed I spotted (there is LOADS of it! :gaah: ). Hopefully that will encourage it to twist around it and then I can poly-bag them with weed killer.
Now it's a case of fingers crossed that Oz doesn't go out there and systematically pull each and every stick out :th scifD36:

I re-potted a number of plants into Verve that weren't growing in Jack's Magic compost, there's obviously not enough nutrients in it for them. These aren't the only ones I've had to re-pot either, I won't be buying it again.

Back home after three days dog sitting. Did a walk around the garden and bloody hell everything has grown so much over the weekend and the weeds have trippled in height so that will be my job first thing tomorrow

Layed out some plants for where i want planting them ready to do it over the next few days and just checked on everything really
