Pricked out some larkspur, potted on a few bits, dug up and potted up 2 heuchera for my dad (weren't going well shaded by the shed and I don't have room for them!), fed and watered the roses, planted up 2 containers with geraniums and lobelia and watered everything in the greenhouse! I'm close to dahlia blooms now, and the first Rose is nearly open.

I collected and erected the marquee, spent an hour and a half watering the greenhouse and potted plants, mowed the main lawn, did some tidying up and sowed 30 courgette plants - all before lunch. :blue thumb:

Today is a public holiday, so there could be a lot of progress made, if hubby decides to help.
But he was upset with me when he got home last night, because I was in a fume about the technology (PC died 2.5 years ago, and hasn't been fixed, laptop now getting much more use than designed for, so is dying, background server is grinding to a halt....) I feel awful - I was angry with the technology, not him. The poor man is exhausted, from so many long days at work (12 hour day yesterday) and about one night in three on call. So, so far today I am tiptoeing around downstairs, whilst he has a lie-in. A matins tart is warming in the oven, for when he does wake up. At least we don't have the bank holiday chorus of lawn mowers here - it is illegal to use power tools outside on a public holiday!
Might get some seed sowing done, once I've put the bread to prove.

Unsuccessfully dodged the raindrops (downpour) :noidea: whilst watering everything that's under cover. That took over half an hour with them under cover but me having to keep moving around in the rain.

As I was out at meetings most of the day I was pleased that it was raining on a day when I couldn't work in the garden anyway. :blue thumb:

Cut the grass AGAIN last night, I'm having to cut twice a week at the moment.

Bringing some houseplants out into the sun....should take the best part of a few mins. Then see how much energy I have left to do something more meaningful! [IMG]

I got fed up of all that mullarky and reviewed the situation. I found I preferred a lawn meadow so, a few years ago, I set about transforming my lawn into that. Never looked back! It was motivated by the tedious lawnmowing (only scythe once annually, initially twice a year though) but, visually, I much prefer elegant, long swaying grasses (that have feathery flowers) and wildflowers....haven't got the ratio right yet (mostly oxeye daisies) but it's a work in progress.

I appreciate most people keep lawns to socialise on - that was not the case for me.

Today I hung up a shade net in the greenhouse where my show Begonias and Fuchsias will be spending the summer. Then I finished planting out my Chrysanthemums. The Dahlias are still to do, but I wont risk them for another week or two yet.

Potted on some artichoke plants and moved them to the greenhouse to grow a bit more before i give them to my mum to plant out

Did some weeding and removed leaves with black spot on off the roses and tidied up some of the dying tulips which were covered in greenfly

Weeded another area of the lawn, blocked both mouse entrances to the garage, and put fleeces on all the tender plants, in preparation of cold temperatures tonight

Weeding, weeding and more weeding. I don't actually mind weeding, it's quite therapeutic, but at the moment they're running riot and taking over where I want to be planting out. So planting out has to wait till I finish weeding.

ETA - I won't actually ever finish weeding. There are areas of my garden that are like a jungle with the amount, size and type of weeds. Just need to finish weeding the particular beds where I want to put plants.
