I dont know what everyone else thought about tonight but i thought the judges got it spot on

The guy who won and the women both has the stringest concepts by far. Its a shame she didnt execute hers well because it had so much potential to be brillaint

        His was amazing.

The yonger guys planting fully let him down and the concept was so weak. I struggled to see how he could make something good out of it

The other guys concept was nice but too airy and not solid enough and he over did it. It had tok many elements which distracted

This was totally up my street as its like an art installation so more fun

I'm enjoying it, although none of the gardens have blown me away so far (but then they haven't used Rhododendrons yet) :snork:

I hated everything about that show. The judges, the competetors, the designs they came up with and the format of the show as a whole. Turning something that shouldn't be a competition into one.

Not to mention the overusing of the term "Upcycle" which really grates me. Whats wrong with just saying recycle?

I personally don't like these "challenge" programmes, the allotment, interior, sewing bee, bake off (although this one is a bit more black and white than the others) and this one are all things most of us do as a hobby, turning into a competition where judges pull apart someone's hard work and style, methods etc is just against my ethos.

I thought the same thing when it came on "this'll be right up Dips street"

As you can guess,I cringed all the way through:rolleyespink::biggrin: it just doesn't do it for me and I was trying to see where they were going with these gardens...

The 'Trapeze/Fear' 'garden' for instance,I do feel they over think these things.IMHO he'd have done better under planting with Aloe Vera ,Yuccas or even a huge bed of nettles...now that's fear... can't you tell I'm not a designer:biggrin:

Nooo lolimac you are completely right

There was nothing scary about his planting at all. Nettles hadnt even crossed my mind but that would of worked so well or thistles. It was spikey or scary enoughand even his so called spikey plants where floppy and flowey

Ah fair enough. I guess tho they want to do it as a career not hobby that that is exactly what happens you are in compeition with rivals. Design stuff always picks everything apart but i think its good in a way it makes you better and helps you improve

Val you cant molly coddle people going into the industries where anyone can be a critic

When it comes to design whether it is product, interior, architecture, fashion everyone can have an opinion on it because everyone has eyes

The same for the music industry you dont need to know anything about music to have opinions and criticisms

So no matter what you do there will always be positive and negatives towards it. These shows are really nice to the contestants they are not nasty but honest. You cant improve or learn if someone tells you everything you do is great when its not. But if you are told what is wrong or what needs work then you can improve and get better

If you lose enthusiam along the way then maybe its not the right path for you or not a career path and just a hobby instead which is fine because none of us are great at everything. Certain people are better at certain things and others are better at other things. thats life

I think it needs to be critical criticism, positive and negative feedback does help spur you on
