Pruning rose bushes/plants - do it now or wait another few weeks?

Is it still too early to prune back my rose bushes/plants now or should I leave it for another few weeks until the temperatures increase a bit more ?

They are all starting into growth if me I would do now

yes do now , outward facing bud so its not facing into the fence or the middle of the bush do a slight angle so the rain can drip off quickly , any crossing branches or thin straggly branches cut at least half the length , what type of roses are they bush , climbing etc .

I have 4 of them placed at various places within the beds

So, Is it ok to cut the center stalks/branches pretty low down near the gound and have the other ones pruned back bit higher

yes, so looks like a brandy goblet/glass when you have finished if you make a mistake dont worry , apple tree, gooseberry, are grown the same way its to let air and light in , which helps to stop mildew and promotes healthy growth and more flowers

They would appreciate a granular rose food and good mulch over the soil afterwards, roses are hungry plants. And a healthy vigorous plant has less problems with diseases.

End of May is the most suitable moment for pruning rose shrubs. It's important to wait til your frost threat is over and then prune, or plant new roses.

 

Pruning in May will take away newly forming flower buds, sorry, but it's much to late Rhana.
