    Hi

Last year we had some form of bug in the garden that ate holes in leaves and attacked the vast majority of plants and vegetables in the garden. The leaves on a lot of plants were completely eaten away. Does anybody know what this could have been and how do I prevent it from happening again this year? Thanks.

We put lots of slug and snail pellets down so these weren't the culprits I'm afraid. They ate holes in everything including Pyracantha and other plants with tiny leave.

        Hi

There are only minor holes at present in plants as its early in the season. I believe we also had the same problem the year before. It would be good to know what the bugs were together with a cure so that I can be ready early in the season and ensure that the garden doesn't look it did last year and the year before.

it could be all sorts , caterpillars etc we have so many different insects in the UK plus they only feed of certain plants , some snails can be a couple of feet of the ground if not higher and chew on the leaves.

So its hard to say without more detail sorry ....

It could be a complete mixture of lots of bugs so slugs, snails, caterpillers etc

Also leaf cutter bees do a lot of damage to leaves of my plants but i kind of dont mind them but the leaves end up with lots of patches missing

It sounds like Sawfly larvae which can de-foliage plants overnight.:dunno::coffee::snork:
