image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg I've inherited some pots and I was about to turf this out to plant something else but it's deep purple foliage is quite nice. Any ideas? Worth keeping? Many thanks

If you like it surely that is a good enough reason to keep it.

That is undoubtedly a cultivated plant. Quite possibly it is Lysamachia ciliata purpurea

Such a shame that something should need to be identified as a cultivated plant in order to appreciate it. Garden fascism! [IMG]

My front garden is replete with a garden escape, red valerian and looks wonderful!

I think you have been reading a different thread my friend. There is no such comment in this one. :dunno:

Agree...you just helped identify the plant. My remark was more directed at noshow and those who may need to know that a plant is not recognised as a weed (definition: plant in the wrong place...could be anything) before they are able to appreciate it. I am trying to draw awareness to that conditioning. Check out my signature. [IMG]

@noshow - in the second photo there are two types of pernicious weed (the green leafed ones) that need to be gone.

Should be hardy enough to plant in the ground allowing you to use the pot for what you were going to.

Yep they're all gone now and the 'firecracker' is looking great. Thanks to you both.
