I bought this for 50p last year (rather past its best out of a bargain bin) and it has bloomed for the first time in my care - I'm rather pleased with it)...................

Well done Keith ... I had one but sadly lost it for one reason or another and haven't seen another for sale since. Beautiful plant.

Stunning flowers but they're rather temperamental. I've a feeling they prefer acidic soil but I've no source to base that on. They definitely don't like soggy wet weather.

Some of mine in a sandstone cleft.

I believe they like nestling in the cracks of stone wall, and the trick of the trade, was to plant them sideways so that water didn't collect in the centre and cause rot.:coffee::snork:

              Thanks all!
I'll probably get some more to try in the dry stone walls. I presume facing west (I have no suitable south facing wall) would be best?

I reckon that should be okay, longk, as the winds will be warmer, although moist, and definitely better than a cold East Wind.:snork:

We grew one from seed about ten years ago. For a couple of years it lived in the ground, grew bigger but had no flowers. So we lifted it, split it and put it in a pot with some sempervivum, with this result the following year.
                  Lewisia.jpg

It continued to flower annually until the last couple of years when it stopped flowering possibly due to competition from the sempervivum.

                  Sempervivum pot.jpg

So this year we have lifted it again, re-potted part of it and put some other bits in the ground to see how it gets on.

                    Amazing show @HsuH !
It has been rather mugged by the Sempervivum though!!!!

An advanced camera is less important than understanding how to use your camera in manual mode in my opinion.

Yep lol its why i try to pick hardy drought tolerant plants lol

To be fair this one was behind the arabis that was in flower so i cut all the spent flowers off today and noticed it lol

My other lewisia has some buds on so hopefully i wont not notice that one flowers as its not hidden lol
